No it is incredible - if someone told me the same I'd have a million explanations of how they were mistaken
But when you're there...well- I tried to debunk the running upstairs by testing it out myself in the dead of night to no avail. I fancied up a story that they were people fleeing the hotel during the Greek/Turk conflict as there were bullet holes in the walls where the noise always started. Just a fancy tho
In 1978 we moved into an old Tudor farmhouse, beams, wonky floors, I loved it. I had a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 10 month old son. We hadn't been there long when my daughter said "Mummy there's a lady in my bedroom", so I went to look. No one. Daughter was very disappointed and said "Lady gone, she was a very nice lady". Later that week I went to the village Post Office for my child benefit and there were 2 elderly ladies. One said "OH you're the new lady who's moved into .... have you met the ghost yet?" I told her about my daughter's nice lady and she said that the ghost had been a children's nanny a long time ago and she welcomed new children to the house.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
My dad used to be a bus driver. One quiet night on the last bus from Nottingham to Mansfield, he picked up a regular at Newstead Abbey gates. The man went upstairs and he could hear him tapping his feet, above the drivers cab. He didnt stop until he got to the depot. As the man hadn't got off, he thought he must have fallen asleep and went up to wake him, except there was no one there. It wasn't until a few days later that he found out that the passenger had actually died the week before he picked him up for a final journey.....
My other half had a job as a volunteer, at the ironbridge gorge museum. He lived above one of the shops. They often heard someone moving around in hob nailed boots, but when they went to look, there was never anyone there. Whereas if you heard the rattle of a chain, you had to get a move on, because it meant the billy goat had pulled his stake out again, and would becoming up to headbutt you in the rear..
I work in a museum that was once a police and fire station (also housed the ambulance and the mortuary van). Its 114 years old and has about 10 regular spirits plus countless others that seem to visit the paranormal investigation teams on an irregular basis. I wont give you details but you can imagine that those in the cells aren't always the nicest of things to meet...
