Noggins; an interesting word. I ended up some years ago running a small building site. My method for doing this is to hire people I have come across before on sites who seem to know what they are doing. One of the chaps I hired to replace a wall rotted with damp was a tiny chap from Lancashire, who demolished this (non-supporting) wall and then said 'Shall I put in me noggins?' I said 'Hang on a minute' and dashed out to a phone box (before the era of mobiles) and rang an engineer friend and said 'What the hell are noggins?'

Apparently they are the cross members in a stud wall. image

It's Mr Postgate's voice that does it for me Dove. Fitted the whole piece perfectly. Along with the clarinet of course. image

Or are we weird do you think? image
