May I join the club? Isn't it downright scary how one can be made uncomfortable for not wanting to go along with some completely artificial expectation of what should make one happy?
I'll be around here on Christmas too. I used to hate Christmas, because we'd go to visit extended family, who, every single one of them, always worked very hard to make any gathering very, very stressful. I mean the personalised-insult type stressful. So I am now very much looking forward to meeting friends before the holidays, spending the Winter Solstice on my own (actually we're going for a hike with a friend by way of marking the solstice) and listening to carefully selected non-religious wassail music. And digging on my allotment if the weather allows.

Fairygirl.
If you can't enter the sea up to your nipples without a sharp intake of breath, Mother Nature is screaming "IT'S TOO COLD, GET OUT"
Fairygirl, we'll be there as spectators and supporters.
Hosta - I can manage up to my ankles and that about it....
Mind you - at my age, everything's heading south, so it's a possibility .....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Welcome to the club Aster2
I'm sure there will be plenty of chat on here over Christmas.
I will be taking Christmas to my mum's house, it's my turn, come to think of it it's been my turn for the last 17 yrs
A tin of chocolates at home on the sofa sounds very appealing, maybe I should phone in sick on the 25th
Thanks, KEF.
indeed so pansyface. The forced communal jollity myth is one of the things which annoys me most.
