{{{{{Fidget}}}}}  Some hugs for you. I'm really so sorry, know that he is at peace now. Words seem inadequate...thinking of you and Lyn and Verdun too.

Hope Lyn managed to contact the doctor and help will follow.

So sorry FB, its so sad when it happens, even when you are expecting it.

I cant believe the staff there but I know they only have a skeleton  staff at weekends.

Not too good for Verduns mum, Its very similar with mine. The doctor came in yesterday, she kept saying she didnt want him but I just did it.

He told her she must get up and sit in a chair, upright, he may as well have talked to the cat. so another course of antibiotics. Her temperature was very high.

Its the laying down all the time causing the fluid to build up. she is not eating because she feels full, then is bringing up plain clear bile, of which she says is sick, I said if she sat up a bit it wouldnt be such a wrench on her stomach.

She doesnt want to go into hospital but I really cant see me coping with this every month. At least they would get her up and walk her around, then they have those straight high back chairs.

I have to take a water sample back again to the doctor.

When I phoned him he said if I hadnt called him in I would get done for neglect, so next time I am just going ahead and call them.

Lyn, the hospital kept making out it was our fault he was dehydrated. All we had to do was prompt him. They changed their mind after he had been in a week and he wouldnt drink for them either. Of course the overdose of furosemide they gave him didn't help. Dont beat yourself up. You can only do your best, no matter how frustrating.

  • So sad reading these posts of troubles and worries, especially at this time of the year when you can easily be fooled into thinking everyone else in the world is having a great time.

Very best wishes to all, I do hope the goodwill and kind words sent from all the posters on here make things a touch better.

    Hugs to all.

Thank you DD, it does help, really it does! Even if no one replies its giod to just write it down.

Dehydration, FB the last paramedic told me off for that, dont worry, I fought back, but you dont need it at these times.

Paramedics are usually too young to have elderly parents so hard for them to understand. They know about it from textbooks. Try not to take any notice if one tells you off, not worth having that to stress about too.

Had a long chat with my cousin yesterday, she is now having elderly parent problems too. Her mum, my aunt, was such an efficient person and was looking after my uncle with dementia, but now she's gone downhill quite fast and can't remember things.

Very sorry to hear Fidget, but I think he chose to go in his time peacefully. So did my Mum earlier this year a week before her birthday.

I have chosen to have my lymph nodes removed first and tested before I have the 'big' op because if I have an implant it can be affected by radiotherapy and have to be removed. - so decisions all made - just waiting for dates now.

Not much else to say about it really except looking forward to getting this shitty year out of the way!!
