Hugs to all that need them and even if you think your upset isn't major this is a place where we can support each other image

Peeps don't need  to give regular updates but I think it's good to let people know that we are thinking about them, we never know when we might need / want some support.

You don't want to know about yesterday my OH rodding Mum's drainsimage so  I got to do 3 hrs leaf raking on my own and we've now discovered that Mum's garage roof that was replaced last year leaks. Roofers coming back me thinks 10yrs guarantee but yet another thing to sort  image Hey ho  image  image trivial compared to a lot of people's problems.

  • I'm sure it doesn't seem long ago that you were rodding your mum's drains KEFimage

No it isn't but one lady paper each time and poor fall on downstairs loo drain not good, bath no longer used only shower so doesn't help with flushing. Maybe we should find her a male companion to use her loo imageWe will flush minus paper each time we visit and Mum thankfully not on a meter will pop in and  flush when she remembers.

Matty - the sister of a friend from years ago went off to start a new life in New Zealand. She had barely been there a couple of years before she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was in 2008 and just the other week I heard she was still doing well and in remission. I had completely forgotten about this but wanted to post it here asap.

KEF - thank you for asking about Mrs F. We had a visit to our GP today and he thinks the itching she gets is not down to her liver at all. Which is a huge relief because we feared liver problems as itching can be a symptom. Also her blood test results don't support the idea that her liver has any serious problems. He's put the itching down to stress.

Dad is deteriorating day by day.  I have spent 5 of the past 10 days either accompanying him to doctors, hospital, seeing dieticians and physiotherapists. His heart failure is stable, but he will not eat any solids at all now, drinks very little and moves as little as possible, despite, everyone asking him to eat more, drink more, and do a little exercise. walking 10 yards with a zimmer frame would be good.

he tells them all he will, and then he goes straight to bed and turns the telly on at full volume so he cant hear us asking him to drink.

I get so annoyed with him, because all of the deterioration is self inflicted. We've tried cajoling, coaxing, nagging, and threatening. I finished with giving him a pad of paper and asking him to plan his funeral because that will be the next thing. He's running my mum ragged, and she's getting no sleep because he sleeps most of the day, but is awake at night. The other night he wanted to get up and have a shave at 3am. Apparently he had been planning it for three days.

She thinks he need two weeks boot camp, where he is forced by strangers to do something. He will do it for strangers, but not for family.

  • Fidget ((hugs))

Maybe bootcamp is an idea - what about a few days 'assessment' in a residential home - you could call it respite for your mum.

The hospital phoned. Tests on monday are confusing, so can Dad just pop back for some more blood tests. As Monday took five hours , two ambulances, a large costa coffee bill, and a parking bill, my sister has phoned back and requested the community matron come out and take the blood samples.  The hospital has now decided that  they will admit him for assessment. So at least Mum will get a decent nights sleep.

While waiting for another phone call, I has a cold call from Anglian windows. When I snapped that my father was dying, I was expecting a phone call from the hospital, so would they just sod off, the phone went click. Fastest I've got rid of them in months.image

I think I could develop that one for cold /nuisance callers.image
