Lily, I am so sorry to hear that. Sounds so very similar to my mum.

Thoughts and prayers with her today.

Hugs to everyone on here. Keeping everything crossed for you Matty.

Got back from daughters last night and was greeted at the door by hubby who said that mum had called daughter to say she had been told she might have to have her leg off and she was going to die.

I raced round the home to find her in tears.  Had a good talk to her and apparently one of the carers who showered her had looked at her feet and said that her nan had had similar problems and had to have her leg removed. She told mum it was because her nan was diabetic.

Mum is diabetic.  Mum hadn't told the nurses because she didn't want to get the carer into trouble but handn't eaten or slept for 24 hours because she was so worried.

I spoke to one of the nurses who was horrified at what she had been told and we spent the next half hour convincing mum that although her feet were sore the antibiotics and honey dressings were working and her feet were not going to be cut off.

I do wish people would think about what they are saying before they open their mouths.

Matty, thinking of you. We are all here for you if you need to chat. My very best wishes and hugs xx

Yvie, your poor mum, what an awful thing to say to her. Bless her heart, give her a hug from me. My very best wishes to you both too xx

SGL, does a touch of gout get me a hug? I know more like lay off the Port but my cook insists on using it and setting the odd glass down, "err hang on" I am the cook, oops.

Yvie, I do wish people would put their brains into gear before talking to old and vulnerable folks, the person should be taken to task for it.

Saw my Surgeon last week he said I was fitter than him and signed me off, all well that ends well and I bless the NHS and all who sail in her.

    Frank.

Matty ((hugs))  loads of positive thoughts heading your way.

Yviestevie - that's not good - that's a real training issue that needs following up with the carer's management.  Your poor mum ((hugs)) for her and you too.
