Our daughter has just found out that she has a muscle missing .there is just a space where t he muscle should be.she went into hospital for a op regarding a. h e rnia.after she came round they said her hernia that she had done a year ago is stilll intact .she has had a lot of excruciating pain and swelling they thought it a second hernia but found no repair needed and no muscle either.any advice .? The muscle was there o n her scan when she had scans done before her hernia op last year. We don't know what to do.surgeon says he is baffled.
Gran, i think a second opinion may be needed here, as Verdun said muscles dont kust dissapear!
Fishy, glad dad is doing well, i had something similar and i think the antibiotics are "just incase" , hope everything goes well
Lyn, cant you slip a bit of dispersable asprin in his drink? Glad your mum is feeling better
Dove, glad your pa was found, its true when they say common sense aint so common, that just shouldnt of happened! Is your pa ok? Did he chat the nurses up?
Lyn, it depends on whether he has had an "event" (heart attack or tia or stroke) before. For every 3000 people who have not had an event before, taking aspirin will prevent one heart attack in a man and one ischaemic stroke in a woman. But three people are likely to be admitted with a gastric bleed. Also a higher incidence of indigestion . So in those circumstances, many doctors are stopping low dose aspirin as more people are hospitalised with side effects, than with what they were trying to prevent. In people who have already had a heart attack or stroke, the odds are better at secondary prevention, and so it is recommended that they carry on taking it.
Your dad should talk to his doctor before he stops taking any medication, but if he has not had a previous event, , I wouldn't worry too much.
This is what I can't understand , daughter has had two children if the muscle had been there or not there it would have shown .plus would she have been able to have children without the muscle in her groin ? She now cannot have the third child she wanted. But I worry about her health in general .what can it lead to , can It lead to a muscle wasting disease.she has not been well this last year but have put it down to recovering from first hernia open. And being diabetic .but is it this loss of muscle that is causing it ?
Sorry to hear about your daughter Cangran and hope that something is done soon to put your mind at rest.
Lyn - don't worry too much about your Dad. This may be his way of taking control of a situation that's hard to handle. He needs to talk to his GP who will probably reassure him that the benefits outweigh the negatives. The radio has been known to be wrong before. Hugs and hope your Mum is improving.
My poorly friend came home from hospital today. The shingles is still there but not quite as bad. Her sight seems to be ok. Spoke to her briefly tonight, she still sounds poorly but much better than she did.
She has been told she will need another operation once she is better, to remove the rest of her bowel. This means she will always have the Stoma. She was hoping to have the reversal op but that is no longer possible. Very sad but as long as she is clear and recovers thats the main thing.

How strange Gran, I have never heard of that before. Surgeon's baffled, that doesnt give any of you much confidence!

Gran, that is weird, as others have said muscles don't just disappear.
