It's ok Peat - if Lynne gets any grief from her hubbie - he might end up under the patio image

  • Love all the pics! My hubby works overseas 90% of the year so he will be (pleasantly) surprised when he sees we even have a pond! We have just moved into part of an old converted Victorian Hospital - all we have is a tiny courtyard.

That looks a lovely spot Lynne image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Thank you. It is lovely, I have never been to Oxfordshire before. We have always lived overseas until now, mostly in the Middle East so it's all a bit of an adventure. There are lots of grounds here with lawns and flowerbeds and then a marshy area before the river so I am hopeful of frogs and so on!

Once one has lived in Britain, then the rest of the world loses it's attraction. It's only the politicians that **** this place up, and the Bankers, ( did I spell that right ?) and corruption in places of trust.   Now, don't get me started !  It looks like you have a good spot to put a pool Lynne. GO FOR IT ! Then you can ask, 'Does my patio look big in this ?

  • Making me chuckle Peat!

    Peat - you're taking that too far....imageimage

Wish I'd had a partner who'd worked overseas for 90% of the year...image

Lynne - you'll have plenty of wildlife for a pond if you build them a nice 'Des Res'. If you build it - they will come....image

Of courser - you'll need some nice cover for all the little froglets, so you will have to go and buy plants image

  • All very exciting. There is a border about 18 inches wide (showing my age!!) all round the courtyard which I will plant with ground cover as well as shrubs.. it has mulch or bark - bit technical for me - over it now and a few straggly  things the builders put in.

All this talk of ponds has convinced me I need one too. The only problem is space so it will have to be pretty small. Next year's project according to Mrs Fish. Lovely pictures by the way folks image
