Your list sounds like mine! Remember the cast iron table and chairs I was painting this summer with hammerite Well two done! Got bored of that game
Today I'm clearing out the tin bath that I planted up as pretend meadow this year, hmmm looked good most of the summer but the bedding plant daisies overwhelmed the plants I really loved and they are gone!! Won't make that mistake again grrrr
Beaus and obelixx thank you so much for helping to identify the plants. I have made a note and also finally have sorted the names of the plants from my visit to Sussex Prairie Gardens in August ( where that photo was taken).
I was also peeping into private front gardens , many just a small square under the window. Some lovely, simple styles of planting: dark slate chippings with one juniper (the spreading type), a square of clipped box balls, very large pot with statment canna planted...surrounded by frothy lobelia (idea inspired by GW and MD I think). Had such a 'nosy' time
I thought this planting could be adapted for a 'shabby chic' border
perhaps not so closely planted but there is an airy look about it.
I'll ckeck out the names at some point (I think monarda is the darker flower and salvia or veronica the bluey spires) also think that a veronica is the very tall one in my first photo - so many cultivars.
Beaus, thank you for your kind offer of more black turf lily, I would love some bt with my pm's not working not sure how it coukd be arranged . If you have space and could hold on to some maybe we could meet on a garden visit or something.
Time to catch up on other threads. Have a stinking cold so browsing posts on here is like reading a good book. A'chooo! snivel, blow, curse
Oh Bizzie nearly missed your post, so fed up with the email notifications not working and dont know how I can give you my email address unless maybe you could email Daniel the forum boss man and ask him for mine as he has it
Are you keeping a diary of all the gardens you have visited and the lovely ones you have had a little nosey in? Think you should
Sorry you are not well and hope you feel better real soon. Not nice having a cold especially when it's nice weather
love this border you have shared above, think you know what I like
Daniel tells me my prblems accessing things stems from Internet Explorer so i've finally switched to Chrome which seems better. Maybe that's your problem too.
Didn't get to the brocante on Sunday. Ha dto go to a BBQ to celebrate 150 yrs of the Red Cross. No time for fiddling with finds anyway as it' steh start f teh dance season and patchwork classes start again soon so I need to do my homework!
As for your other thread BM, I'm planning to leave this house and garden in a couple of years and am already working on cuttings and divisions to take with me, especially my favourite clems. Layered a Blue Angel last spring and it seems to have worked so there'll be more next spring.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
