I'm not sure but think I have twin baby thrushes that are very cheeky and follow me all the time in the garden. They are the cutest things ever. Beau likes to chase them off but they don't worry and come straight back! After all you have said above maybe they are not thrushes but def have speckled chests. When bf home will try and get a pic to show you The babies above are beautiful
My partner was out in the tractor the other week. He'd been working for about 4 hours when the front grill panel fell off. He carried on finishing what he'd been doing and then went back to pick up the panel and put it back on.
And there right on top of the tractor's battery was a nest with 2 mistle thrushes! (The front grill panel has quite big gaps in it) . They were very warm! He immediately took the tractor back to the barn and there was "mummy" thrush waiting for her young to return from their trip out!
Couldn't use the tractor till they fledged and flew the nest 4 days later. We thought they were lucky not to have been cooked with the heat of the tractor
Such a sad post about the baby robin but then the tale of the tractor And the baby thrushes has well made me smile, what a miracle Thank you for sharing
Tried to get pic of what I thought was a baby thrush (not sure now so will need expert opinions when i get the pic!) who follows me around the garden today but he wasn't having any of it and the sky became quite over cast time I got home but will try again tomorrow
Young blackbirds are quite speckly, usually with a hint of orange in their colouring. We have one who is very orange and speckly. They're also very friendly. We've found that they absolutely love the Chapelwood Hedgehog food that we put out for our hedgehogs, so I sprinkle some of that around in the garden during the daytime for the blackbird fledglings - it's keeping them away from my raspberries

That's the first brood in the mower shed Dove.
20 years is along time without a thrush Bob. It's not been as long as that here but it's very good to have them back. Low numbers though

I'm surprised you don't see the thrush singing, ps2. They usually stand on a very prominent perch.
Yesterday I found this little dead bird, I think it had flown into the glass off the greenhouse and killed itself; can anyone identify it?
