Nut, I would have thought that your lawn, surrounded by trees would be pretty protected from the wind?image

I liked the contrast with the foliage here; similar thing was on Beechgrove Garden

  • It was a lovely visit - we'd been staying in the area for a family party so included our visit on the journey home - couldn't stay too long as we had a long-ish journey home after a late night - and I'd also had a call to say that my grown up son was in A&E with concussion having been hit in the face by a ball whilst watching a football match!!!  It's the third time he's been concussed this year - how old are they when you can stop worrying about them?

But to return to Castor House gardens - that first bed full of salvias, asters and dahlias (amongst other things) was fabulous, and I did like the very ordered kitchen garden - but it was a shame that the beautifully ripe plums were going un-picked and falling on the ground - they were very tastyimage  I also agreed with Nut that if I'd had such a wonderful watering system, I'd have attempted to cover the hoses with a layer of mulch as is done at East Ruston and Bressingham, rather than have the rather obtrusive hoses snaking so obviously over the beds image

Artjak - did you inspect the compost bins?
