    Thanks Bjay

  • Have actually got my self in to gear today and cooled a proper dinner all from scratch. A lovely shepherds pie is awaiting in the oven. Will serve it with homegrown runner beans that are in the freezer.

Has anyone got a recipe for a christmas pudding that has no dried fruit in????? I have IBS abd this year it has decided it doesnt like dried fruit of any kind which is a shame as i love christmas pudding

Try a chocolate one. I always do a cold choco truffle one as well.

Organised chaos here today, with the heating engineers finishing off. We are now warm again!

I normally cook from scratch, but tonights' meal is our good old standby of Cheddar curry. Store cupboard ingredients & we've done it from student days in the 70s. A M&S Bakewell tart from the freezer for those that want a pudding.

Need to plan menu next before going shopping tomorrow. J.

Cauliflower cheese with little bacony bits in.

Maud, you could be out of luck there. What about trying other sorts of steamed puddings? There are bound to recipes around for some treacly boozy ones, or perhaps with other fruit like apples in.

  • I do like chocolate so that could be an option. Thankyou. My Nan used to make one during the war when there was no dried fruit around, she is no longer with us or the recipe

You can pep up a choco steam pudding with brandy, and add cinnamon it would give a hint of the flavour. Trying to think - I have seen a recipe but where.

Tonight we are having veal and parmesan (sorry veggies) meat balls from Waitrose (thought we would give them  try) with a Hairy Biker Baked bean recipe. Nothing like what you get in a tin, really tasty.

To follow melon I think with a blueberry compote

Not the one I was thinking of but an idea

My family would probably opt for Delia's chocolate bread and butter pudding. Takes days, is very extravagant, and tastes divine - mousse-like.
