David, I absolutely love Tracy Chapman, even if my youngest son does think she sounds like a man he still likes her too!! My favourite (I think) is Behind The Wall, quite a sad sing and her voice us just beautiful
Not heard of that Tom Waites song Artjak, will have to google, I think the only song of his I know is Missing You.
O.L. it is a whole CD; am now listening to 'Next'; Jaques Brel songs sung by various artists mainly in English. My newest CD is Stratus sings Weill, sadly too much of it is in German, though there are translations in the booklet.
My C&W is Lynn Anderson, Marty Robbins, George Jones, Lester Platt and Earl Scruggs kind. Raking through the LP's I found Bay City Rollers "Agh" Manuel Music of the Mountains, Shadows, Tramps, James Last and "who the H--- bought that", Singalong with Max, shows what an eclectic household we were. I put some Waltz music on the record deck and it did not sound too bad.
There is a pond in the garden where there was not one yesterday, it is dull and grey though still warm in the Conservatory, I will get the mince on cooking then go have a sit and listen to some old memory, that will not be Max or Bay City Rollers.
Oh my Frank and there was me thinking you were well educated musically My nan used to have a Max Bygraves album, could possibly have been the same one LOL!
Lynn Anderson, she did Rose Garden didn't she? Great song and most appropriate for my garden now
I love a Vienna Waltz, but no idea who composed one or them? Sometimes they play a Vienna Waltz on Classic FM but it makes me want to dance what I'm driving (not that I can actually dance properly I just pretend), which maybe isn't too good

Yes, spotted my faux pas just in time to edit it, Tracey.
Just listening to 'baby can I hold you' - another 'Tracey', Tracy Chapman wivout an 'e'.

Easy mistake to make, although Kenny is still with us (for now) and Johny isn't
Number 1 of the 80s as voted for by the listeners was Living on a Prayer, I love Bon Jovi and love that song, but best song of the 80s, really??
Finally got in from the garden and endless potting up for flooded gardens and am listening to Tom Waits; Beautiful Maladies; just wonderful
