Orchid Lady and Fairy Girl I'm overwhelmed with your kindness, and I really couldn't expect you to spend money on postage at all! Plus as OL noticed we are the proud owners of an allotment now, and that's going to take up so much time it's almost a blessing that we lost so many seedlings. I've salvaged about 10 dahlias and the OH has about 5 marigolds left. At least they weren't particularly grand and difficult seeds to grow! There's always next year!
It was a plastic growhouse, it was the one night we forgot to weigh it down with our tools... *sigh* we'd just managed to resurrect the peppers too and they started to thrive, they'd been such a pain, but we persevered! Finding pepper plugs has been fruitless, homebase sell established plants, but where's the fun in that
If you change your mind SP - just send me a PM with your address and I'll let you know what sort of things I have. It's no trouble at all
I've wired my growhouses on to the fence or the house wall. They blew over even if it wasn't that strong a wind. I had loads of buddleia cuttings which were completely wrecked last autumn when we had a rough night. I've only got a few left. Gardengirl wanted a white one so I must see to that soon.
Lovely clematis David. Which one is it?
So many great photos again. I love your last pic BL - the stone pillar/path/blue planting
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
The lovely lady of the house finally finished pointing the flags at the front of the barn so that area is now complete. Its a real hotspot so loads of lillies are going in pots for now.
View from the front door looking into the woodland area. There was not a single dry stone wall other than the retaining wall North of the barn before we started but if theres one thing we are not short of here its stone.
View from the drive way.. This needs softening as its just industrial concrete at the moment. I estimate we have moved over 10 tons already. At some point the oil tank will move into the woods (bit of lack of forward planning there but we bought the woods in front after it was installed)
View from the shady lane to the North. The wall on the right needs rebuilding but this lane is lovely in the spring with ferns and foxgloves which I will try to encourage in future with some seed spreading and more weed control.
The area at the rear though is the big challenge this year. I want to make square ish rooms in this field with knee high hornbeam hedges (which Im thinking I will plant in the autumn as bare root as we will need lots - is hornbeam ok on clay rich loamy soil) and have specific areas. Veg beds are going in now (this lens has really distorted the angles though). But its going to be a long job (and a lot of top soil and compost). Our land extends to the trees in the distance. I think we will have to get someone in to plough it over.
