Thanks Busy Lizzie, yes it's acer shirasawanum 'aureum', it gets greener through summer, but I love the fresh new leaves, so yellow! The clematis is only 2 years old! One plant, frightening how fast it grows!
A few of my favourite plants at the moment from around the garden today
Geranium Himalayense which has just flowered - one of the free Geraniums from GW
My Marguerite in OH's grandfathers pot boot we inherited and I love very much
My Acer I bought from the rescue table at the local GC for £5, I've always wanted an Acer and love it so much.
Some of my annuals hardening off
My rather full GH, lots of annuals and some perennials that I will be hardening off in the next week or so to make room for my cucumbers and aubergines which are currently in the house on a windowsill!
One side of the little bed made of last year's roof slates. They're all beginning to slide away though. I just piled them up at the time with nothing to hold them as there were old slates everywhere. There should have been other geum behind the hosta but they rotted away this winter which is a shame. Too much colour clash already though. (I had read Sarah Raven's The Bold and Beautiful Garden - but the artistic side of colour combinations kind of escapes me!!) This was this afternoon and a couple of minutes later the sky turned dark and it belted down with rain. Was potting up begonias and had to literally throw them in the little plastic greenhouse and duck for cover indoors! What a laugh. Everything looking nice and green out there now though.

Ooh yes, you're right Panda, it would look lovely on my table outside, I was going to put a Maurgerite in it

Bamboogie, what a sensational garden you have. Love the sunken area and your theme of planting.

Lots of lovely plants OL! So many you could have a plant sale
Well I did suggest putting a sign at the front of the house with all proceeds to Beagle Welfare Lily
