I've no idea Edd- it just appeared there although I sowed others elsewhere earlier this year. I've got that orange lychnis sat in a pot just in front waiting to go in when it's finished..
Hi everyone, great pics some good combinations Im going to pinch. Busy Lizzie/Yarrow 2, it was a bit tricky planting the Clem in the jug the top is wide enough to get my hand in so I filled the bottom with 2 inches of gravel after getting hubby to carefully drill a number of small holes in the bottom for drainage, I then filled the pot with a mix of John Innes 3 and potting compost. I carefully lowered the clem into the pot holding the stems I was worried it would all break up but it held together fairly well then I used my hand to build up the compost round the plant and firm it down, the soil is about 6 inches from the top so that the bottom of the clem is in shade. So far its doing really well.
When I get chance Ill post a few more pics of the garden.
I didn't like clashing colours Verdun, but since my accidental Candytuft/Calendula border and mixed up pots I actually do now I would call it a riot of colour to make it sound more artistic rather than clashing colour
beautiful victoria sponge-bold combinations in containers are my favorite although the magenta and orange pelargoniums are pretty close to the edge. googled your nom du jardin-ho ho who says we aint got culture?-and found dozens of recipes for you-made one for strawberry shortcake-everyone agreed you are a tasty morsel. chicky do you have any terracing on your pretty slope or is runoff not a problem? just leveled a small sloping bed as part of the great iris project.
Love the bright colours Victoria - not clashing, just eye catching
No terracing David, but the rain soaks in rather than runs off. The stone retaining wall is a sort of terrace I suppose.
lovely pics Yvie - i love phlox, and they do well for me here, so look forward to them coming out .... Half mine are flowering, the others are just on the brink
