Thank you Obelixx - I am sorry re slug pellets - am learning and now have beer traps - ill get the tweezers out tomorrow to pick them off gravel - that said I haven't had and slugs get as far as my Hostas possibly due to the line of grenades I have set at the bottom of my decking! . Seriously tho - point taken.
The bed is all ready, just waiting for the plants to be delivered. I thought it may have been last week but I've now had confirmation it will be this Friday so I've got Friday off work and cleared my whole weekend cos I've got loads of plants arriving, including the hostas
Friday and the whole weekend - lucky you! Bet you are excited re delivery? Wish I could clear whole weekend but my boss is on holiday next 2 weeks in thailand ( very rude of him!) so working next 12 days out of 14 plus fitting in 12mile Myton Hospice walk on Sunday! Hey ho - thems the breaks - that said can't wait for my 2 Hosta to arrive. What other plants are you looking fwd to arriving? presume you have plans where you want them to go?
...I expect some of you will be wanting the very latest must have Hosta....namely the one and only...'Andy Murray'.... to be launched at Chelsea shortly... the colour is supposed to represent the Saltire..namely blue with white edge [plus a bit of gold in it to represent his gold medal].... but to my eye it looks more blue/green with creamy yellow edge...but never mind... I find many of them look rather similar....
That's an awful long time to work for without a day of Tray14 ... and your running too. You've obviously got a lot more energy than I have
Besides the hostas, I'm waiting for astilbes, geum, blue hardy geraniums, penstemons, coreopsis, echinacea, tradescantia, asters, lychnis, hollyhocks, delphiniums, verbena, million bells, pansies, begonias, chrysanths, dinner plate dahlias, helianthemum, gaillardia, heuchera, heather and a dwarf buddleia.
I'm a bit late getting them in but hey ho, let's pray for some good warm weather to bring them on quickly. Most of them are perennials, so even if they don't flower this year, they'll be well established for next.
