Thanks Antony. Glad to hear your fire and ice made it after all. What a surprise for you The plant from Jersey Plants looks nice and healthy. Shade seems to be the common requirement for hostas. I've got a nice shady corner in my garden ready for my hosta display, interspersed with astrantias, ornamental grasses and some evergreen shrubs. I wanted to get going with the plot this week but it looks like I'll have to rescue some other new plants from the dreaded wild garlic that I've got at the back of our garden which will keep me busy this week plus I'm finally ready for my clematis plants which are due to arrive this week. All being well the following week though should be hosta corner week
CharleyD nice to hear from you again.yes all my new hostas are planted now just cant wate for them to come up,i have had a good mix of rain and sun this week so soil worming and my hostas got watered saving me a job lol
here is a list of the new hostas i got all from bowdens at devon
1 x June
1 x Winter Snow
1 x Blue Hawaii
1 x Titanic
P.S i think i saw a tv programe that said you can eat wild garlic bulbs check it out before you get rid of all of it. thats provided you do like garlic
Ooh, good job getting all your hostas planted. I know, the wait for new stuff to grow is sometimes unbearable ... but SO exciting when they break through the soil. You've chosen a lovely selection - I particularly love the June. The ones I think I'm going to order are:-
White feather, Fire & Ice, Canadian blue, Blue circle, touch of class, First frost. The blue circle and first frost will be coming from Bowdens.
Ha ha, yes you're right about eating wild garlic but mine is an invasion and I'll have to get rid of it in order to protect a new hedge that I planted and also lots of new plants. The plan of attack is about to be put into action, which I'm looking forward to
