Gardengirl , not sure if it is kale , I have only grown curly kale but there are other varieties , why put it on a general thread or ask other allomttment holders ?lets us known if you get a posative answer , sorry can't be more helpfulimage

your wood pile keeps getting bigger

somebody dumped a pallett at the allottments the other week , so I had it

there is a wood yard that leaves them outside of there gates and you can help yourself , just can't fit them in car , shame image

  • Hi all, been off work with flu, yuk.

Went up to my plot on Wednesday to dig up a few more parsnips for dinner,, hah, that was a right game. The clay soil is so sticky now that they wont pull out, I have to loosen the soil around them and tease them out with brute force.(I wont be beaten though!!)image

Had some good news from my council officer. I wrote to ask if she could get me some more space on an adjacent plot  and she has agreed to ask next door (the guy thats never there), so who knows, might have a bigger patch soon!!imageimage

    Have a good weekend image

  • Ginagibbs that is terrible sending over some tissues and a hot drink, good new if it goes well this time with the extra bit of land

Went to the allotment done a small bit of digging then cut the grass the cutting were blowing all over the place - great push mower - grass looks much better now just wish the paths were flat to be easier to cut

Found my daffodil bulb so moved that to the plot number sign and moved the hyacinth bulbs there as well today

Also found out by going to look in the large area for bark chippings that a load of compost is there so will be bagging some of that up looks good stuff

Jo 47 , something to think about or is your garden big enough , that why I got one , garden just not big enough but house in such a great position , wouldn't move image

Definatly one of my better decisions getting half then acquiring other half image

  • Ginagibbs-hope you are feeling better ((hugs)).

Went to.the allotment on Fri and took up the weed cover and turned the soil over as all the weeds had died. I've put the weed cover over the growing mountain of weed/soil at the front of the plot.

Thank you for the wigwam ideas, they look fab! ????

Although I love windy weather, especially when going for a walk along the beach but my poor fence in the garden needs a lot of work.
  • Popped to the allotment shop ordered 1 kilo of pentland javelin potatoes, and brought some fleece for when the broad beans get to the plot, also picked up some free seeds out of date  - parsnip gladiator f1, borecole scarlet, water melon sugar baby and dill

Thanks Jo47  are you planning on a patch in the garden for veg
