Yes Edd it is Bismuth - he did say the shopkeeper said it was an element and I did wonder as I have a large piece of Pyrites up the garden somewhere.  One of my knowledgeable fb friends recognised it at once as her schoolboy son had her making the crystals!

Good looking cake, flumpy1.  My two grandchildren have just been and made me peppermint tea - I did eat too much yesterday.  They are both at uni so went off with lots of herbs and  pitted dates from my prize I won.  They brought me lots of goodies and smellies so no excuse for not being a well fed sweetly smelling Marion when i come in from the garden next year.

Cold here flumpy1 but bright and sunny at the moment frumpy1.  I have just been out to open up the cold frame and did not need my coat but rain is forecast for the afternoon and below zero for tonight so will have to make a note to myself to close it at teatime.  I do not rely on my short term memory anymore for important things like that.  The cut and come again salad needs shearing there so will have some on my cheese sandwich at lunchtime.  Tastes super with blue cheese which i was given a lot of at Xmas.

O h my it is so cold here in Bristol.  Top temperature expected only 3degrees and minus 2 tonight so I do not expect to put my nose out the door for a bit.  But I can tend my plants in the conservatory as that does not entail braving the weather.  All the cars and houses still have white roofs.  The forecast is cold till Wednesday when our changeable weather we have had for some time now returns with mild days and nights. It must be playing havoc with the plants and insects which are indigenous to our country and the weather we used to expect.

oh no, flumpy1.  I think those icy roads need wheel chains for cars like the coultries have which are used to ice.  I hope you do not have to go out too early.  Take great care.
