I think all Scots people wherever they are in the world have heavy hearts today after the tragedy that happened in Glasgow yesterday. I certainly have and went into the back of my wardrobe to take out my Baby Jesus and decorate it for Christmas Day, The birthday we celebrate on that day is our symbol of hope in the future. I have started decorating the flowers in the conservatory too.
Drier today and sun shining so will go early to the shops for fresh milk as I expect there will be queues and visitors later. Next Sunday is when the real winter cold is supposed to strike so must get everything snug by then. Have a lovely Christmas all my Forum friends. .
TY Fruitcake and Linda. Must tell you about a WOW present for the Golden Jubilee Garden - three, yes three Pittisporum tenuifolium shrubs! Imagine the perfume that will come from them in May and June.
Safely back home and everything protected from the frost that is coming tonight. Youngest son gave me a beautiful orchid, six bottles of my favourite wines and a big box of chocs. Wore my lovely new jumper of 100% wool with the Kew label from my youngest daughter. Son No2 gave me a beautiful new watch with an owl on the face and a metal owl for the garden (I like owls and have quite a collection). Son no.3 and his partner gave me a splendid new wicker basket for my garden harvesting, stuffed with more wine, crab, lobster, salmon pate, Camembert, cake and meringues, biscuits, special tea, and special pasta, (organic corn and quinoa),sundried tomato pesto, and wonderful chutneys and chocolate. Big box of chocolate biscuits from the other Mum and Dad too. The Xmas meal was absolutely perfect. Only fly in the ointment was Son No1 has the 'flu but he will come to visit as soon as he is well. There is very little space in the kitchen right now for the hordes of food and presents are everywhere. Boy next door gave me "Town and Country" leather gardening gloves so well protected for fruit pruning and his parents gave me even more luscious food! I certainly need my new fridge freezer I got in the sales which is due to arrive Dec,30th in time for New Year hospitality.
Marion, it sounds like you had a lovely day and your presents sound really nice, hope your son no1 gets well soon, I didn't feel 100% yesterday not sure what it was but I thought I'm not going to let it spoil my day at my parents, feeling a bit more myself today, anyway Merry Christmas for yesterday Marion and enjoy your presents
Aww Edd! My youngest son who knows his mother's passion for all the earth sciences also gave me a splendid mineral specimen - Pyrites - Fool's Gold. I am having difficulty taking my eyes off this and my orchid. And it is not because of the six bottles of wine he choose for me.
