His descriptions of the countryside are so true I feel I am there, seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and even tasting occasionally.

  • What a lovely day you had marion image

sadly, I was disappointed with my meal at the Fashion, the sprouts were overcooked, the Yorkshire pud could have broken teeth and the potatoes weren't my cup of tea image

But the caramel apple crumble tart was lovely! The staff were fab, although perhaps a couple more wouldn't have gone amiss as there were lots of parties in last night.

My my garden was still white at lunchtime, and the roof of my shed was still white at 3pm, which is odd because both were bathed in sunshine today image

Oh dear Fruitcake, must have been an off day for the sprouts.  Actually ours were as I like them a bit on the hard side but they were too hard for some of the ladies but they were the new sweet variety.  Our Yorkshire pud, well at least mine, was perfect and the roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and floury inside.  Glad you liked the crumble tart.  i have added that recipe to my repertoire.  Yes it was cold in Bristol all day today.  Milder tomorrow  AG Mag. readers voted Christine Walkden as Gardener of the Year this year. Monty Don was second.

Warmer this morning and no rain forecast for Bristol till 3o/clock so hopefully should get out in the garden today.  In the morning preferably in case visitors arrive for tea.  But many people will be busy with Xmas preparations so may have all the daylight hours to play.

Oh I have had such a lovely stroll without needing even gloves on round my woodland garden and fernery and peeped into the conservatory.  Do join me to see how beautiful leaves and twigs can be in December.

Awwww yes, I am indeed blessed with such wonderful people in my life.  Glad you like the pics.  I kept exclaiming oh that is beautiful and the birds joined in.  It sounded like there were hundreds chirping merrily away out there today.  The autumn floering Cyclamen hederifolium have  just finished flowering and left behind their lovely marked ivy like leaves and the winter flowering Cyclamen coum have just started to flower.  How is that fir synchronisation?

Another dry mild day forecast for here and the temperature at the end of the week is forecast for 12 degrees night and day!  There will definitely be snowdrops flowering for Xmas!  I have to stay near the house as my Ballymena part of the family have sent a parcel so better spend my time outside tidying the kitchen patio.  I may even scrub the picnic table.and put a nice flowering pot of gazanias on it.  I cannot believe they are still flowering outside.  I ordered 15 plugs in the spring and 45 arrived and they all thrived.  I have squashed as many as I can into the cold frame and conservatory and kitchen to try and save them for next year when I will not be buying anything from a hothouse or mail order to be "Green"

Oh gosh the good things keep happening this Xmas.  I have won 2nd prize in the Name the Cocktail Competition on the Justingredients fb site - £25 to spend on their wonderful ingredients!  What fun I will have choosing!
