Oh, my word!  What a precarious state they are in. Is there any chance of putting plastic sheeting over the damage (I think we are due for rain during the night)? Have  the tomatoe plants been safely re-housed,  where would they go?

Goodness, sorry, so many questions spring to mind in a situation like this.

Such a disappointment that you wont be able to have the Open Day.

Just checked the bbc weather details and weather in Bristol appears clear and dry for the next few days.

However, here in North Herefordshire - overnight rain again.

Not much going into the waterbutt, so rationing water for plants in pots. Cloudy sky, hot with cool breeze - makes necessary gardening tolerable image

Spent an hour checking my latest photographs, this taken yesterday on the Leucanthamum

held my breathe but it stayed there for ages, lots of hover flies too, all shapes and sizes.

Sons 3 and 4 came over this afternoon and got most of the plants out of the conservatory and the table.  i was so relieved to get my big pots of cymbidium orchids out and Mr. fothergills peppers.  The tomatoes we left for now as the trial was to grow three kinds from seed to harvest indoors and i am picking twenty ripe fruits off them every day.  my son who has a lot of dealings with insurance people in his transport business says they can be very slow so i may have gathered in all the harvest of those tomatoes before they need moving.  I am hoping stiff taping could be put over the glass till it gets a replacement window.

Oh my goodness it must be getting near judging for Bristol in Bloom!  No road sweeoer with his broom this morning but two smart little electric vans in yellow and black livery , one to clean the pavement, the other on the road clearing the gutter.  you could eat your dinner off our road today!  And every hour i am out picking up leaves fallen from the lime tree next door which thinks the drought is autumn and deadheading meticulously.  beautiful weather, not so hot but dry and bright.

Oh, honeysuckle and rosa rugosa together must smell glorious.  I was right - my garden has just been judged in the Bristol in Bloom comp.  I had the card through the door to tell me.  It was beautifully sunny so I hope they liked it.
