ive ordered a few shrubs and roses from crocus besides being over priced everything ive had from them has been in good condition and healthy Jparkers is another story ordered 72 perennials from them more than half were dead and very unhealthy and a standard tri colour rose is very badly pruned no buds atall and half the stems are dead terrible condition, will never order from jparkers again, on phoning to complain i was told i had to wait til end of august to complain and get any refund, i recommend crocus if you have spare cash! as pricey but had no problems with them healthy shrubs and roses, but after wasting 80 odd quid on jparkers i'll have to replace the majorty of the perennials so even more expense.
Crocus/Telegraph absolutely terrible, plants should never have been sent out completely sodden compost and plants dead, and then they make excuses and want me to wait for some time to see if they were alive!
Then they refunded me the cost in dribs and drabs!
As for Parkers plants dried out and dead, same story re refund, again paid back in dribs and drabs also!
Both should be reported to the RSPP (Royal Society for the Protection for Plants!)
Total waste of time effort and money, as I do not want to have to report plants not up to scratch, just that they are perfectly acceptable!
I ordered two collections of bare rooted shrubs from Lead the Good life at the end of January. They were £10 per collection plus postage. They are common every day shrubs but will go fine down the bottom of the garden. A bargain price. I potted them up in the conservatory but four out of the twenty are dead. (no green under the bark) I emailed Lead the good life but they said there was only a 30 day guarantee but I could have replacements for 9.99 each. I don't think 30 days guarantee is enough for bare rooted plants.
Blackmoor nurseries, ordered some fruit trees and as they didn't have a one year old tree in the root stock and variety that I wanted, they sent me a two year old instead for no extra cost!
Pottie Pam Hello Pam. Last year the manager of a local owned garden centre gave a talk at our garden club meeting. They have a five year guarantee no questions asked on trees, shrubs etc and said they very seldom got anyone coming back to said their plants etc had died! He said he would rather have a satisfied customer who came back for more than to have someone dissatisfied with their plants! I do buy from them some things are dearer and some cheaper than mail order but much better quality and you get to choose what plants you want!
Been looking at Sue Proctor Verdun, will bear them in mind.
Have received an order from Woolmans today (they have just been added to subscribers discount list). Will definitely use them again. Really large plug plants packed full of healthy roots.

Blackmoor nursery was about a mile from my last house.
They do an " apple tasting weekend" every autumn.
