Pot them up and keep them in for the winter, keep fairly dry they can easily rot in the winter if too damp. Take off any dead leaves and they will be fine for planting next April. Harden off slowly.

Dont worry if they drop all the leaves, they are not dead, just resting for the winter, they will shoot out in the Spring.

Its lovely when you see them next year and know you have grown them  and looked after them.

I ordered a new canopy for the garden parasol; around £30 for a 2.5 m canopy from whitehouse.co.uk

Delivered very quickly, lovely people to deal withimage

My old parasol canopy lasted 12 years! But I do take it off every Autumn, wash it and put it away.

Sorry! it's whitestores.co.uk ( I don't think the U.S. President has time to deal in garden equipmentimage)

  • haha Artjak. I bet they have some nice gardens though.

Thank you Lyn. Yes, i cann't wait for next summer. hopefully, i will have two new gardens (front and back!) bursting with flowers which I know I have looked after since the begining of their lives.  I will try to find room for them inside the house, but have got a funny feeling that i will run out of windowstills sooner rather than later. image

I was just looking for this thread...

...already mentioned a few times but I must put in a tip top word for Knoll Gardens...

    http://www.knollgardens.co.uk/

..perennials and ornamental grass specialists, and perhaps they're not too busy at this time of year, but I ordered my plants on Sunday evening and they arrived today Tuesday morning... now that's what I call fast!.... excellent 2 litre pots, superb condition and even a handwritten thank you note to go with it...

..postage and packing £10 for up to 10 plants...30p extra per plant... but next day delivery from when they are despatched...and sent by courier.... also you don't have to wait in for them, they will leave where you want...

..I ordered various Helenium, Persicaria, Rudbeckia, Gaura and Pennisetum...

If you like roses and want to try something different, then you might be interested in this French site, which has a fabulous catalogue of unusual roses.  I can recommend them wholeheartedly as I've just received my order from them, which I only placed 6 days ago.

...It's very easy to order and pay, and doesn't cost much more than ordering in this country, about the same I would say, or even less....   the proprietors are English I think, or American...so no language problems either... the only thing to watch is that some may not be totally hardy in this country...but there are places to check up on these if necessary...

  • sales at parkers I ordered an  Apple Api Noir with some other trees which were in the region five feet tall the  Apple Api Noir was in total 18 inches it looked just like some one had pulled an 8 inch branch/twig off an apple tree and stuck it on a root stem when I enquired about it I was told "that's the size we always send out " and also I shall have fruit on it in 2 years  ..... anyone who can add to that

If its a dwarfing tree with an overal height of 4 - 6ft, then 18"  for a year old tree doesnt sound bad.

  • Lyn according to the details its up to 3 metre height so no im thinking that's wrong and for 16 quid too every other tree they sent me was at least 5 feet tall
