I like Naturescape Claire, order from the often and had good results so far.
Ordered some plug plants for my hanging baskets from PlantMeNow, arrived in some very space age looking packaging, in lovely condition. The packaging pops open to reveal the plugs free of any pots, so very easy to work with as one doesn't have to poke a stick through the hole in the bottom of a pot, or dig them out with a teaspoon, knock them etc to get at them. Lovely solid roots and healthy little plants.
I just had a couple of orders which I am thrilled to bits with
Bought some perennials off - Dorest Perennials - heleniums sahin / Actaea james crompton / eupatorium / geranium all come very well packed, showing signs of life, very well priced as well
My second order was from - Anglia bulb company - got dahlia david howard and some trailing begonias. And two FREE gifts 10 Crocosmia Lucifer / 10 Liatrus good size bulbs as well. came with all instructions etc. came with the free plant labels / planting bag as well
Ive had quite a few starter plants from PlanMeNow and mine have been lovely, as you say the packaging is really good. Not had such a good experience with Naturescape however. Paid quite a lot for some Star of Bethlehem, followed instructions but none came up.
Gemma - only had the plugs from natureascape for 8days, just in sheltered spot outside (my garden on top of a hill! Sheltered is not a common thing!) they are growing away already! Love spring!!!!!
Yviestevie- sorry to hear about your experience, what a shame I love those! Not used plantmenow - perhaps I should have a looksie!
I had an order come from beth chatto nurseries the other day, wonderfully packaged, so well I didn't realise there was a false bottom in the box, and my ''missing plants' I reported to them, were in fact in a layer lower down - my husband thought it was hilarious when he pointed this out, I was soooo embarrassed, fortunately the nice man at the nursery also thought it was funny when I rang back to apologize! doh! In my defence I unpacked them in the dark after work!!
I'm obsessed with campanulas at the mo so got latiloba Hidcote Amethyst, also bought a Coreopsis, Veronica, Aconitum royal flush, Astrantia Lola, Polemonium lambrook mauve and an interesting Linaria called Peachy. Also got two more Primulas for my bog garden but that was really just to get the free postage
The ground cover plant collection I bought in the winter from J.Parkrrs sales have grown on beautifully, I put them outside today to harden off but forgot to bring them in, blowing a gale now and pouring rain, hopefully they will be ok, they were only in a plastic greenhouse with zip open before.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Hope your plants are okay this morning Lyn - I had a similar boo boo with a large pelargonium that I put out to get some sun recently. Frost has crumpled it back to nought again but I think it'll be okay
Where would be the best place to get English bluebells from? I want to plant some in our wood area, but I want to make sure I get them from somewhere that hasn't taken them from the wild.
