  • Sorry OL, only just seen your sunset pic. Beautiful, thank you for sharing.

Love the colour/black and white pics too. Black and white pics do look colder.......and a bit spooky too image

Thank you kindly, both. I find it strange that after taking pictures in colour, I'm now tending to change them to b & w and making comparisons.

Speaking as someone who embraced colour photography since its inception, I find it interesting how certain photographs seem to assume appealing characteristics in b & w......perhaps it's a nostalgia thing.

David I thought the black and white one was great.

I wonder if our liking of monotone is because we all see the same image as the photographer so it is a good one. Not sure on this point but don't we all see colours slightly differently ? So maybe some colour pics aren't as striking to some as others image

If the above is incorrect and I've invented it sorry imageHappy to be educatedimage

  • Morning, KEF……monochrome v colour?

I love the subtlety of tones that black and white images can have. In a world that often boasts about how many millions of colours a TV or monitor is able to produce … I love that in ‘Mono’ there is such a variety of what can be achieved in a photo. Black and White sounds so boring – but the fact is that there are so many shades in between… I love the challenge of bringing them all out in an image

Of course the black and white v colour debate is a very personal one. For every person who loves shooting mono there are many others who much prefer the vibrancy of colour photography.

Perhaps you may agree that by changing my earlier ‘snow scene’ shot into monochrome transformed it into ink- sketch type picture.
