Lesley - if you book an appointment with Specsavers online it gives you a "free eye test" voucher (or at least it did with me a couple of months ago) to take in (although if you work with a computer screen your company should pay).
Afraid the sun has been scared off once again. I'm seriously considering getting the vests back out.
I had a hearing test at Specsavers a year or so ago, as part of my 'job' as a mystery shopper.
Very professional and competent person. Personal info, of course; why do you think you need a hearing test etc. Then I sat in a little booth with headphones on and had to press a button when I heard a tone; they were of varying pitch and volume, but mostly very quiet. Two ears tested separately. Graph at the end showing how responsive your ears are across the frequency range.
Can't take you further than that because I didn't need any action, but if their hearing staff are as good as their vision ones you'll be very well looked after.
Let us know how you get on.
PS: I had a free eye test voucher for Specsavers through the door the other day. I shall be using it. Of all the places I did the mystery shopping, they were the best.
Thanks Steve. I know there's *something* not right with my hearing - we just need to find if its my ears or my brain that's the problem! I had an eye test with them some months ago when I was investigating my continuing headaches and its so much easier to get an appointment with them than it is trying to even get hold of my GP to arrange a referral.
Just hope I don't need hearing aids - £500 for a basic pair £1,500 for the high end stuff? Ouch!! That would be my plant budget burnt out for years!
Clari, you are doing well for yourself with eye and hearing tests but you should really try to see a doctor. Stress is a major cause of headaches as is flickering light for migraines. I'm sure you know what you are doing so....
Saturday doesn't look great for horse uhmm manure, or anything else for that matter
Good luck clari!!!! I have a hearing test every year for work.... Just relax and try not to imagine the beeps!!!!! Well have to say my garden went mad in the two weeks I was away it's exploded and I have decided I have too much crammed in!!!!!!! The helleniums I couldn't resist are doing great guns as is my wild swan anenome went away to 1 flower it must have at least 8 on it now!!! The fox gloves in the wooded garden hace exploded and as it is a little overgrown it is quite unkempt but magical!!!! Kind of reminds me of a fairy kingdom lol.... Gonna attempt to tame it a little at the weekend whilst dodging the supercell hail stones like tennis balls storm!!!
Stacey glad you had a brill hols I've had a couple of hols in May in Corfu loved it as it's lush and even the houses have pitched roofs because of the rainfall they get.
OL courgettes flowers do fall off, no problem. Sometimes later in the season they don't and you have to remove if they start to rot so courgette doesn't.
Re: cost of hearing aids I suggest if they say you need one Clari go to G.P, and be referred to hospital and be given one on NHS, Mum's first one was "all singing, all dancing" high tech model.
Thanks for your wishes guys. It's just nice to have some inspiration workwise, I'll keep you posted how I get on. Still trying to write a cover letter for cv, you know the one that goes - choose me, a 27 year old, I'm way better than a newly qualified, I live in the real world- hmmm, needs a bit more work!
clari, I had a free hearing test at boots, went ok. I said...it went......
stacey, glad to hear about your holiday.
And kef, what a novel place for a GH, in the garage!
gardens filling out, have put some pics on gallery. Thought I needed more height but think I actually might benefit from some low ground cover sort of separating plants. Saw this on possibly gallery thread, forgot to comment or who it was but think it was a newbie...
My GH was in the back lounge.....we decided the garage was too cold and also there is no room....what with my huge collection of maturing wines and all
Thanks KEF, I winder why it's not growing then and is going yellow? Possibly not pollinated? Is that what happens if the male flowers don't appear?
Sorry what was about wet salad that Mrs G? Really hope your CV writing goes well - there's loads of websites out there to help (I have a template for the CV bit but the covering notes are awfully hard work!)
Lesley - The migraines have been put down to food intolerances / stomach issues and you'll be pleased to know have almost completely gone now I'm on a restricted diet. My GP is very good when I can get to see him but its very hard to get an appointment so I tend to use private companies as the first port of call and then see the GP if it needs following up which I think I'll do if I don't pass the test - bonus is that I don't have to miss as much time off work!
Lesley - advantage of moving horse muck in the rain is that no one can tell how much you're sweating! Plus it means when the weather is good I can do "fun" things in the garden
KEF - gosh they must be good because I can neither sing nor dance! It would be nice to be able to sing a little, just enough not to get frowned at.
Stacey - I had enough difficulty not imagining the lights when they tested my periphery vision! I saw the damn things the whole way home!

Sorry Steve - you're in the wrong job - everyone will recognise you from your photo.
Stacey - I would love Wld Swan in the garden but have to research more into it's habits. If it's a swan it surely likes it wet
