I had some Fritillaria Imperialis once, magnificent. They were in well drained soil in full sun, which they are supposed to like, then after 2 or 3 years they just disappeared. ? slugs ? lily beetle. Lily beetle always get my madonna lilies, although I pick then and their horrid babies off regularly.

I have a clump of trillium I bought 20 years ago from Bressingham. It increases very slowly. Its getting overhung now, so I might move it with a big rootball.

Which variety have you got punkdoc?

    Morning

Have to report a very water-logged lawn but no damage, thank goodness.

I hope those of you who have some soon get sorted.

Trilliums always look lovely but I thought they were hard to grow.keep going.

Hi fidget. I bought Trillium sessile. Maroon flowers with black blotched leaves.

How can you lie there and think of England

That sounds like what I've got. I've never thought the maroon colour was up to much though. a bit like Pattys  Plum poppy.  Kind of dirty brown.   There is a double white one , but I've only ever seen it in books, and never for sale.

  • Hope that everyone hasn't suffered too many setbacks in the storms in the past hours. Glad to say that in Northern Ireland we have missed it altogether. Rather pleased because I have just completed concreting a base for the new greenhouse yesterday and have various ingenious things covering it to keep any rain at bay. High winds would have totally ruined the plan!

Hope to get the base in place now and start assembly this week. image
