I didn't realise watering pre-rain helped the rain to be absorbed.....I wish you'd told me that last night Verdun when I couldn't decided whether to water or not, oh well, I'll know for next time
I'm hoping to plant out some cosmos before the forcast rain but sky looking very dark.
Yesterday evening I heard some strange cries and thought it was a bird in distress but when I looked out two huge birds had just passed overhead and I'm sure they were common cranes. I googled their cries and that's what they sound like. I reported the sighting to the Cornwall birding site as I'd be interested to know if anyone else had seen them.
Morning Pam, I was wondering the other day whether to plant out my Cosmos but wasn't sure just in case of frost. I live in the NW and there is no frost on the long range forecast, never grown it before so not sure how hardy it actually is??
Oooh Pam, how exciting - I'd love to see cranes in the wild. There are a few resident here in Norfolk on the Broads, but I don't think the general public are encouraged to go and have a look.
Morning Verdun, Tracey and others Well, Cleve didn't get Best in Show, but he did get a gold so
Best togs on, face and toenals painted, suncream and hat found, camera batteries and mobile charged, plants assembled - have I forgotten anything? ...............whoops! Panda's pressie
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Its been drizzling here, so the soil should be damp enough for me to get the pea(hurst green shaft) plants in. I started them in next doors mouse free conservatory. If I grow them in the greenhouse or straight into the garden the mice or voles eat them. Some runner beans ready to go out, but half the old seed didn't germinate (only four years out of date, a packet I found in the back of the garage), so I've put fresh in. Still plenty of time.
Onion plants to go in too. Leftovers will go to Mums neighbour for the allotment.
Mrs Mallard still turns up for the occasional feed. I presume the drake is on egg sitting duty.
