That reminds me - we need to get a weight thingy to hold the bottom of the parasol - we've managed without one for 3 summers so far, but it's a bit precarious when the wind blows - don't know whether to grab the parasol or the wine - sorry, that's not true, I know exactly which one to grab image

Twirly thing here too - hidden round by the garage.

Spent the day finishing our vegetable garden by putting up the hazel hurdles.  I was builder's mate - held things up etc etc.  very pleased with the end result ....

Now having first alfresco wine this year, surrounded by the perfume of the wisteria.  One very happy Chicky.  PS Chicklet has cheered up too - only 2 more exams to go.  Then we have to start worrying about littlest Chicklet's science GCSE in a couple of weeks .... Best have another sip of that SB ....

Hi all, bit late today but here now. Used to have a whirlygig thing, didn't get on with it, had to tighten it up nearly everytime I used it. Now happily back to tying long rope to trees.

Fab day. Son went to party then on to my sisters where we went tadpole catching for her new pond. Son helped with watering when we got home, favour returned by a game of footie. Watched some of Chelsea. Oh yes, first flower on 'the president' is out! And first poppy! And a new lovely aquilegea! Zero in my pond though but still like it! Rejigged stumpery, I'll be happy with it one day!

    Night all.

Panda glad you got a brolly stand it's been needed today image

Dove brolly or vino image ..you can't drink a brolly !!

Just watched Countryfile thoroughly enjoyed it, especially baby Cranes.

Have dug and prepared my veg patch, yes me, not OH.  Now ready for planting stuff out and wigwams done for beans. Toms tied up before 10am. Couple of plants in final position and mega watering and feeding of all pots. Then hidden in shade for a rest.

OH expressed desire to watch Top Gear, too weary to sit on a dining chair, so might have 5 with Reacher, not been doing well at reading as soon as head hits pillow I'm away with faires, problem is I'm up to wake the birds.

Enjoy rest of evening everyone image

Lily, climber was Lonicera japonica Halliana, (Japanese honeysuckle) image

i think I'm going to have to look again at the line idea, although it does seem that whirly birds are the norm!

    Love the hurdles Chicky.

Just saw you before I went Panda, more chance of bird poo on your clothes on a line, less with a whirly thing especially if you put OH's clothes on outside image  Honeysuckle should be lovely when it gets going.  Will expect a picture when it's covered in bees.
