cutting the grass and there ( not on the chair but right there) under the apple tree, nowhere near the compost was a gorgeous brown mouse. Poor thing too scared and trembly to run, son was fascinated and tried catching it in a far too small pot. Eventually it found its bravey and a way to escape.
WHAT DO I DO NOW? IS IT GOING TO EAT MY PLANTS, CHILDREN OR ME? WILL IT BRING ITS FRIENDS ROUND? WILL IT COME I. THE HOUSE? WILL I HAVE NIGHTMARES?
I have mice, they just happen to live in the countryside. When we first came here in 1990 they used to come indoors, House hadn't been lived in for 6 years (by humans). They soon changed their minds and went back outside! Can you imagine a tiny weeny little mousey wousey eating a great big human? They eat the occasional strawberry and some pods of peas and once all my romanesco broccoli disappeared, mouse droppings were left behind, but nothing really serious.
Been to see baby GS and took son out to lunch. But baby was very tired and sleepy today. He'd had his first bath and howled from the moment his clothes were removed!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I like mice as long as they aren't in my GH, I don't think I could kill them, there would be no point really as others would come anyway. They won't hurt you, as you saw it was more scared of you. Last year they ate all my chillies overnight - yes chillies! Although, when I say ate I found lots of half eaten ones under the bench when I was cleaning the old GH out!!!
David K and Busy Bee aren't going to be very happy right now
Mrs Garden - that little mouse has been living there for ages, and before that it's mummy and daddy were living there, and their parents before them - and they've never done anyone any harm and they're not going to start now.
They're little field mice - there's probably a little family of them in your garden just like there is in mine - sometimes I see one or two of them and they stay stock still and look at me and shiver 'cos I'm big and scary, and I stay stock still and look at them because they're absolutely fascinating
