  • Morning all.... Welcome white heather ..... Well made a rookie mistake yesterday. Got swept away in tidying up and threw away the seed packets to some seeds I had planted. I only got the labels Saturday and was going to write them yesterday that's when I realised I threw the packets out!! Whoops so I now have some plants that look like grass growing an no idea what they are. Just remember I liked them and thought ooooo they would look great lol..... Going swimming with lo today and oh joy my boiled egg on my 500 cal day was a double Yolker thanks chickens...... Talking of which my husband and I made a tough desision last night we are going to "retire" our current 3 girls ( paxo, noodle and drumstick) back to the farm in Oxford and get 4 new ones. They are old birds at least 5  and if one more dies then we will have to reintroduce some young ones and paxo (white Sussex) is a vicious old girl and I don't think shes gonna take kind to it so..... Luckily enough the woman where I get mine takes then back and let's them run free in her fields ( they are not dispatched!!) I will e sad as I love my gals but I know it makes sense as their egg production is also down as well.... On the upside lo will get to choose new chickens!!!!

Morning everyone and what a dull morning it is here outside, but inside I'm trying to be sunny image

Yorky puds - I love them! my OH is from Yorkshire and makes amazing puds. I remember when I was little if there were any left I would eat them cold with jam, now that would have made a nice breakfast this morning image

Good Morning all. Bit dull here but 9C.

Just had a read and a catch up.

    Hi White Heather image

Chicky I think you might have caused Auricula fever, I'm just getting over Hellebore madness.

    Jeannie great puds.

Stacey I got worried when I read your post about "retiring old birds" image

Catch you all later & soz to peeps that I haven't referred to. Have a good day all.

    Good morning all.

I don't want to cause an upset, but I'm pretty sure Chicky's primulas are not auriculas, as the leaves are wrong - should be smoother, not wrinkly. I think they are gold and silver laced polyanthus. Really pretty and make a good theatre, but one needs to know because auriculas need sun and polyanthus prefer shadier.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

You might be right Lizzie - they said auricula on the label, but they were the same price as polyanthus, so could be so. Am pleased with the way they look though - and if they are polyanthus i don't have a theatre, but a collection of old bricks with pots standing on them (!) - so i will carry on pretending imageimage

I think you're right , busy lizzie. Auricula have smoother leaves.

Good morning everyone.  I had a lazy day yesterday, but today I need to sow some seeds. The question is where do I put them?

    . Polite answers only please.
