What what what!!!!! Lol yes ok I am a walking virus ATM!!!!!! and thank you kef for the recognition of my chillie obsession and passion.... Clarington will get those seeds off to you this week I promise.... Tracey fire away happy to help and drag someone else into my chillie obsession!!!!!
But to answer... Outdoor chillies are annuals but you can overwinter them indoors very successfully ( beware of whitefly tho!) saying that as I have mentioned in a precious post I have moved my lo plastic climbingframe/slide onto the patio and put chilli plants inside it two or three are still thriving an have not does off.... When overwintering inside if it is a large chilli then I advise cutting it back to the first set of leaves ( unless you want to leave a big plant which I have done with my black riot) Tracey chilli sowing time is almost upon us normally about now/ beginning of feb I plant my seeds in seed trays in plastic bags on window ledges this gives them time to germinate and grow true leaves before putting outside. I don't have a greenhouse so all of mine are outside in pots.... I have said it once and will say it again always always plant up in square pots they do better ( I'm sure there is science behind airflow et etc but try one in a round one in a square you will be shocked!!!)
Thank you Stacey! I have been cleaning my collection of pots and hunting down square ones in preparation! People were starting to question my sanity but we'll show them when we have a thriving harvest
Verdun - I'm getting a new (to me at least) car this year, and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't partly gone for this vehicle because of its ability to take large amounts of manure / trees / plants / dogs/ car parts / ... in the back! One thing I can seriously recommend though is making sure that you choose a car with a small a lip as possible on the boot - ideally having one whose boot floor is flush to the edge of the lid so that you can slide things in and out easily. I miss the flush floor of my partners Volvo so very much. It made those extravagant purchases so much easier!
Thanks Stacey, all my pots were washed a couple of weeks ago and I have quite a few square ones, I will try a couple in round ones though, just to see (I like an experiment LOL). I do have a greenhouse, or should I say I will have, are they better in a greenhouse or outdoors?
Breaking news.......I have babies They have appeared overnight and when I checked 10 minutes ago, there they were, little tiny baby Sweet Peas
Clari, interesting you should bring up the issue of car boots and being a gardener. I have been living my mid-life crisis for a while now, I drive a 2 seater with no boot. It is areal painbecause I have to borrow the OHs car whenever i need to pick up compost etc.
Does not matter so much for plants as i tend to buy on line nowadays.
I have started to think that I may need to change to a hatchback.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I'm glad Stacey clarified the Chilli point otherwise I'd have asked you all to lower your voices and not tell mine it's an annual as clearly it has no idea

When you don't even know who's in the team
S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
My car was chosen for its carrying ability. Dead flat, no catch to rip holes in compost bags
In the sticks near Peterborough
My car was chosen for me (company car) but I love it and it's very practical, it will come in useful at weekend with all the tip runs I need to do

(back to work for me now!)
