Yvie I'm glad it went well for your husband. I hope he had a comfortable night.
Technically I'm still on holiday. But the unheated, damp prone, in need of tlc victorian building that houses the museum hasn't been touched for two weeks so I'll be going in to help make sure it's suitable for visitors when the doors reopen tomorrow (my standards of clean are rather higher than the bosses in my opinion). I'm just hoping the bad weather didn't cause any damage. Might wait til rush hour is over though before attempting to travel into the city centre.
Good luck to anyine attempting to rise teenagers from bed today!
Love the photo Pat, isn't lovely to be able to look back over them from time to time.
Yes chicky I noticed how the days are being to lenghten, the other night it was considerable lighter as I went to close up the greenhouse and cold frame ( usually end up tripping over something, but didn't). Hate the dark mornings though!
Thanks for the link Dove, sounds delicious def will not it down for futer use.
I' m still off for another week so hope to (a) carry on spring cleaning the kitchen, (b) strip and wash all the bedding once the last of our brood returns to their own abode and ( c) have some time in the greenhouse winersowing some of the first lot of seeds.
It's been a very hectic 3 wks , having my op and then having the first of our children arrive just 4 days later for xmas, then having one still with us ( which is lovely), hubs is now at work so I am looking forward to some ' me time ' in my greenhouse
I' ve loved the hols and having all the kids and of course getting time to recover healthwise but....... in a small way it will be good to get back to work , I think that I just need a bit of routine in my week otherwise it feels like the wk end everyday!!
Hosta, what an awful thing to experience, you have exactly the right attitude to such nastiness but it is still shocking all the same. There were a lot of Russians when I was in Turkey a few years back but all seemed to be very pleasant from what I remember, it's usually the Brits I get embarrassed about.
Yvie, pleased for your OH, hope he gets signed off today.
Need to motivate myself now, but might have just another coffee, very wet dark day out there.

Sorry to hear that things are being g spoilt for you and hubs....what is wrong with some people!! But luckily you've linked up with a good bunch of holiday buddies.
Keep strong and try and do your best to ignore the *******,hopefully they will turn their attention on to something else when they see that you are not responding to their bullying.
Hosta - sorry to hear that - but as has been said you have the right attitude.
I have Russians in my extended family - I also have people of African-Caribbean heritage in my family. Initially visiting Russians' attitude to black family members was incredibly racist - but that is the result of the education/indoctrination/culture they've grown up with which is being reinforced at the moment by Putin. When the Russian relatives got to know the black relatives properly their attitudes changed ...........

Hosta - others have said just what I was thinking. Great to have a set of mates to back you up.
As Dove says, the Russian culture often seems to be stuck in the 1950s still - racist, homophobic and sexist. Most young women still see their main role in life as "making themselves beautiful to catch a man". OH and I had a couple of young female Russian teachers to stay when we lived in rural Northumberland, and had great difficulty in dissuading them from the idea that they couldn't go out without their bright red lipstick and stilettos.
Dove, that clementine cake looks divine. But we're supposed to be going cake-free for a month... wonder if it would freeze? I might have to stick to marmalade, I think. At least that will keep until I no longer feel guilty about eating it!
Yvie, so happy to hear that Mr Yvie's procedure went well yesterday. Best wishes for a full recovery now.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Was feeling better from my sinusitis yesterday, but now seems to have turned into a horrid bunged up cold and cough. Woke OH up in the early hours with it.

For people with clementines left over, several people on the foodie forum I'm a member of are very keen on this http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/clementine-cake-2559
I've not made it yet, but the recommendations are very high so I'm going to give it a go before long.

Morning all.
Another lovely sunny day here. It cools down around 3ish and we had a wind get up yesterday.
The Russians continue to be vile and we had some homophobic abuse last night in the hotel bar. What a bunch of backward peasants they are.
Hey ho. We were with a lovely mixed crowd and we just laughed it off. They were more embarrassed than we were offended.
Morning all,
Glad to hear that Mr Yvie is doing well .
