We've been busy getting all the decorations down too. I'll have to go out and buy some flowers to cheer the place up.
Glad you're feeling a bit better Lizzie. You must have really needed that deep sleep. I know the horses are well cared for and in no danger on film sets but it does make me sad to think that in the era being portrayed it was a very different matter
Pat - lovely pic. I hope your water tanks are at a good level now.
Congratulations on your first day of retirement GWRS
Congratulationes on becoming a GUV Verdun. Lovely name.
Yes Lesley - tanks full. We haven't been out the back to check the dams but I'm confident they will be almost full. Just what I like to see early in summer. We don't have livestock any more, but the Roos, wallabies and wombats like to have access. Also wood ducks.
Missed you all yesterday had a relapse, just when I thought I was getting better - I know, you all warned me, too much too soon. Anyway, apart from cooking dinner (from which there is no escape), I did nothing. Spent the morning in bed and all after noon watching back to back episodes of The Bridge (at some point I will catch up) and finished off with Sherlock. I liked it, I just about followed it (OH is an expert so added some guidance) and then dosed myself up and went back to bed.
Feel a bit better today, mostly achy rather than the pains of yesterday. I have managed some i*****g but this afternoon have a dentist appointment - not looking forward to it, some major work involved. Have waited weeks and weeks for the appointment so daren't cancel much as I'd like to.
I did say rather pathetically to OH this morning that I feel like an old crock; is this the beginning of the end, teeth, back, joints all failing - he very unsympathetically told me I was behaving like a man with a cold. No chance of being pandered to here then.
Anyway, congratulations to the GUV.
Well done Hosta for bagging a sunbed - don't move.
Lizzie, hope you start to feel better soon, I have every sympathy.
Happy Retirement GWRS.
Happy Shopping Dove - I used to get my morning coffee in Carluccio's - it was only £1 if you were there before 9:00 am - which I was.
I am sure was just my fuzzy head mis- reading these two sentences from yesterday but I did think Hazel's response to Topbird's "they were all men who had probably seen a little of 'real' life" - "probably with me in a hedge" a little surprising.
Pdoc, the names of your Dahlia alone sound inspiring - think will have to look them up.
Have a good afternoon all, I will try and be very brave at the dentist's - one French idiom I am familiar with is - Mentir comme un arracheur de dents and it doesn't exactly fill you with confidence - it roughly translates as lie like a dentist - as in this won't hurt a bit - honest.

Have taken decs down this morning, yet to box everything up, but will need help with the loft. Looks very bare now but at least I was able to give everything a good dust. Might get some flowers as well when I pop out tomorrow.
Sorry to hear your still feeling poorly DD, take care. Hugs.
DD I'm sorry to hear you're still under the weather. Not the best time to visit the dentist but I'm sure you'll be relieved when it's over.
Pdoc the dahlias are lovely. I've had After Eight but the tuber didn't survive my careful storing for the winter. Karma choc looks gorgeous and Pooh is the most eye-catching dahlia I've ever seen.
DD, Sorry to hear you are not too well, be brave at the dentist and keepthinking "frank has all but two of his own teeth because of the dentist, not bad for my age, I can still bite if nothing else.
Dont mention it??. Say some thing to Daughter Pam and it is done before you finish the sentence. I mentioned last week I may look for another dining table, big mistake, she and Dave spent the weekend in furniture shops coming in today with a list fromm £2000 downwards. I am more in the downward end, she will be taking me to look this week so I count it now as money spent, I will keep my mouth shut in future.
Not correcting my spelling as a download problem means my i pad dies if i go back, on to Apple to sort it.
Ikea done, we now have two light fittings for the hallway to put up (when plaster has been put back on the walls, paint splashed around a bit, DIY disaster averted). It was so very busy but it was nice to be going somewhere that wasn't Screwfix for a change! These lamps must be fashionable I got the last two.
I also managed to get a little something that fulfils my criteria for brightening up the lounge now the tree and decorations have gone.
Sort of.
If you squint.
And then realise that its a childs toy castle for the dog to sleep in!
To make it more uncomfortable when I was waiting in the the queue a grandmother proceeded to tell me how wonderful it was and that her grandson adored his and wasn't I spoiling my little boy so much. Well yes Reggie is indeed my very spoilt "little boy" I didn't dare let her know he was a dog who just likes to sleep under things!
Still raining here and the garden is too wet to work. I looked in the greenhouse to find the dwarf daffodils I had put in there "to force" for an early display are actually smaller than the ones sprouting in the garden. Oh well so long as we get some bright colours soon I'll be happy enough.
Frank, tell her you are going to look on ebay. I got a beautiful Edwardian mahogany table, complete with extra leaf and crank handle, for just £77 pounds a couple of years ago. There are real bargains out there, it is not your fault if it takes a long time for one to come up
Buttercup no chance, my daughter in full flight breaks the sound barrier. It will be in the car even if in pyjamas and will not get past her choice. Just like her mum and i never argued with her either. I am resigned to it now.

What dahlias did you order Pdoc? I love them.
