Top Bird and others, thanks for new year greeting - we're watching a huge concert at the Eiffel Tower now. Talk about a night of singing. First the Sydney Opera House now this one. Boy, there's some good singers around. Amazing how many arias are repeated on the two venues -not complaining though. I'm not sure I'll be able to settle down for sleep after all this stirring entertainment.
so sorry to hear about the deaths of those close to you, Topbird. I hope you can find Jools to lighten your mood tonight. We're not into New Years parties either, but we're enjoying all this music.
we're waiting now for the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks display on ABC instead of the Arts Channel. Then, we can pack up and go to bed. My book is going to be a bit of a let down after tonight's exicitment (I'm not used to it). I still wonder how they get permission to let off all those fireworks at the height of the bushfire season, but what do I know.
Turning chilly here now - I think I'll put the heating on now that I'm sitting down. I've made the fish pie filling, just got to cook and mash the tatties ...
Pauline - think you deserve a gold star
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Ive put the greenhouse heater on. Frost forecast for tonight. I'm hoping a few extra bricks will keep the polytunnel in place. Frank sent it over a fence to sit by the plums.
Penny daisies are blooming on the motorway roundabout. I have a rudbeckia prairie sun in flower. Whether it will survive tonight or not is a different matter.
