LP - I got engaged on St Andrew's Day - hmmm... not sure I want to be reminded of it..
Yours is a much nicer anniversary. Any cake?
No haggis for me Dove Must be the English half of me rebelling
W'song - you could get OH a nice little knife for a bit of 'whittling' Glad you're getting to the nice bits of the DIY. The kitchens in these houses are tiny so I know what you mean about getting pan racks etc. In my house round the corner when we put the kitchen in, we fitted the wall cupboards higher so that I could put a rail right along under them for hanging all the utensils. It meant they were higher up too, so didn't block the worktops. And before you say it - yes, the cupboards were higher which meant the shelves were too - but I already needed a step to reach them at the normal height...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Gerty, Yes very exciting but I can't really enjoy the moment since my hubby's hosting his conference in exactly one week and my house is a building site . Hiring my son for two days to steam ahead with it. I'm sure it will be lovely on the day.
Fairy - can't manage kitchen wall cupboards at normal height, let alone higher than usual. Could definitely do with stilts...
Anyone know any good recipes which use loads of cooking apples? My sister had a bumper crop this year and gave me about 10lb of her surplus, Grenadier, Bramley plus unnamed. I stored them in bags in my shed - then discovered 2 days ago that the squirrels have somehow got in (there's an inch gap between the roof and front wall, so they've been doing limbo I guess) and chewed lumps out of about half the stored fruit. The house currently smells eye-wateringly of vinegar, as I'm on my second batch of chutney. No more jars left!! Very little freezer room, but obviously I'll be making lots of apple sauce and slicing & freezing some.
At the start of 2015 I owned 3 umbrellas (don't ask me why!). Yesterday the last of the three bit the dust, as a sudden gust broke one of the spokes. The nice Asian bloke in the Euro Stores where I bought a cheap replacement asked me why I wanted one which folded up small to fit in a handbag. "In this town, you won't have time to put it away before it rains again..."
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Wintersong - I just think he should be practical and think of the financial reward - there may well be a demand for an ark, particularly in Pdoc's part of the world
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Yes, you have a point...if I can just find a way to convince him he needs a third full-time job
Clarington your boss sounds a lot like my manager, he has no respect for us and no matter what, he's right, he thinks he's untouchable, I keep looking for another job but no such luck yet, I hope you get out soon, are you in a union?
Two inches shorter here. At least I'm nearer the ground for weeding.
I'll pass on the haggis too Dove. We're a evenly split household with two for and two against. I had to have a snooze this afternoon after the early start on the whisky.
Yvie my first teddy was bought three months before I was born - I remember it well.
Liri you've just made me fancy an apple sponge pudding with custard. I freeze things in plastic ice cream tubs, turn them out into plastic bags and stack them up. It takes far less room in the freezer.
LilyP, good luck when you see the consultant. I hope he has some encouraging news.

Pdoc, have a word with Wintersong - her OH may be able to help out

Hello folks!

Omg, 5'4" here...
I did wonder....
An inch smaller here, and oldest daughter's even smaller
Like the brolly story Liri
Daughter made lots of apple sauce and froze it in bags - does that that help if you're short of space?
