It's incredible how diet plays a big part Pat, and a bit worrying sometimes. Glad you've found the solution - joints are tricky aren't they? I struggled with the hills when I started back out earlier this year - distances weren't an issue - but a month or so into it and the muscle memory kicked in. Just hope I can keep it going - it's my favourite thing in the world to do
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Same problem here Pat - hard work going up, principally because I have to carry a stone or two of useless lard around with me. But this year I've noticed the beginnings of pain in my knees when going down. They never told me about that when I played Rugby.
(Well, strictly speaking I don't have to carry it; I just don't have the will power to eschew apple pie and roast potatoes. (separately)).
Fairygirl, I envy you your enthusiasm, but it does sound lovely to be able to get up and enjoy those views . Steve, I often see things on TV with sports people having damage to various bits and pieces. It's really makes you wonder, doesn't it. I've managed to get my weight down to a level that the doctor is happy with, by being a bit antisocial sometimes with tempting food, but it all comes down to choice. You decide. We often watch Biggest Loser programs and such like, and wonder why they don't have follow up programs a couple of years later. I can guess why, of course. It's hard to change a lifetime of eating habits. Enjoy it while you can.
im going out for a while now to try to give my garden a drink, so I'll be off air for a while. I assume you'll all be asleep when I get back.
Apropos of absolutely nothing at all (and I have no other friends to tell but you lot ) I have just watched QI, which included the following bit of arithmetical/linguistic amazingness:

It's about choice I suppose. If I eat what I really want to eat I won't be able to do what I want to do. Moderation

Indeed. Moderation in all things. Including moderation. You can have too much moderation, you know.
I often do Steve

) I have just watched QI, which included the following bit of arithmetical/linguistic amazingness:
TWELVE PLUS ONE = ELEVEN PLUS TWO
And also this arithmetical limerick:
A dozen a gross and a score
Plus three times the square root of four
Divided by seven
Plus five time eleven
Is nine squared and not a bit more.
Err have I missed something? What thread has been deleted?
Thanks Edd. Didn't the threads concerned.
Always feel we are a friendly bunch that's there for each other in good times and the and the not so good.
Have a nice hols Edd.
Night night everyone, I'm going to try and get some sleep tonight!
