W'song - I know it's a national pastime to complain about the British weather - I'm no different - but I'm so aware of what that weather does here in the west of Scotland. When I'm toiling up a hill, wondering why I'm doing it, I stop and look round at the breathtaking glens, the majestic summits, the burns crashing down the mountainside, and the rock scoured from centuries of that tumbling, freezing cold water, and I realise how grateful I am for all that b***y rain!
I'm not ashamed to say I cry sometimes when I'm up there. It can be a very moving experience.
chicky - we've often had customers from the islands on the phone and the accent is very difficult! I suppose the Scandinavian influence is so strong there. They're all 'pining for the fjords' you know... Funny how we can have beautiful beaches - on the islands in particular- and stunning clear water like Verd gets - we just don't get to see it so often through the mist and rain
Glad you're enjoying that programme Ggirl. The red squirrels are gorgeous aren't they? The pine martens are pretty amazing too. Thanks for the apple pie -just what I needed
Glad I made you giggle Hosta. The quote from Griff is good though, and very accurate too!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Maybe I'm just getting older W'song, and that makes me see it all differently. I think we often overlook what's close by - I certainly did in the past. Maybe it's just a yearning for life to be simpler -thank you for saying that though
Not sure I'm always glass half full - I try to be - ask me on a day when I'm knackered and still two hours from the car, my feet are soaking from a bog, and my gusset's round my knees from the relentless rain...and you might get another answer....

Oh Runnybeak, how awful for you all. I hope the doctors can do something about his leg. Was the dog a guard dog? Had anyone told your son if it was? I do hope his leg will heal and be OK. Lots of hugs. xx
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Fairy, you are inspirational!
Really, I mean it. I have the habit of being glass half empty and there you are, truly appreciating the fierce beauty on your doorstep.
I should take the time to appreciate my own doorstep more
