I can't see that it's a good idea to sell arms to people who may have grievances (real or imagined) against us.
A good while ago we knew an arms dealer and his farmily quite well (they were customers of our family business). He had been merrily selling arms (including missiles) to the military dictatorship in Argentina for many years, with the full support of the UK government - then suddenly his sales were frozen by the UK and the next day we were at war with Argentina. The change happened that quickly.
We'd always known that Argentina claimed the Falklands/Malvinas ............. but they wouldn't do anything about it, would they?

If anyone knows the effect of open boarders its me.....
I don't hear English being spoken where I live.....I have to walk past groups if sixteen males making comments I can't understand on the way to the shops, I have to step off the path as they park brand new BMWs on the paths in groups...I could go on! Yet I don't blame them for wanting to make a better life for their families...who here wouldn't ! I do have a problem with the lack of integration. I don't have the answers, but our attitude in global affairs has not helped how we are perceived. I do hope everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this forum and not mocked or spoken down to for voicing it.
Dove - I agree with what you say about selling arms.We can't run with the hare and the hounds. Happy to sell arms to other countries and make money from it, but not so happy when those same people want to use them against us. Hypocrisy will always exist and I doubt that will change anytime soon.
WW - I read an article a few years ago about a primary school being given an award. The reason? They had something like 20 plus different languages spoken in the school, with support from interpreters etc to maintain it. Am I the only person who thinks that's crazy? Never mind the cost to the school budget, how on earth does that integrate anyone!

Hmmm wondering why this has been going on at Norwich airport the past few days, rather than at the military aerodromes in East Anglia
