Well, the rain has cleared and the towels are out on the line flapping in the wind hopefully they'll get dry before the rain comes again.
The turkey carcase has been stripped, the meat is in the freezer and the remains are simmering in the preserving pan with some veg and herbs etc. The house is smelling like the day after Boxing Day
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The temp here is currently 2.5 degrees. We had every type of weather this morning - wind, rain, sleet, snow and sun!
Pat - live wrigglers....
T'bird - these *$@**#*s shouldn't just be charged for the callout - they should be charged a fortune then jailed. Some people get an adrenaline rush from doing dangerous stuff. I don't have an issue with that - what I do have an issue with is them calling out emergency services when it all goes tits up. Risk your own life if you want, but don't risk other people's. Not as if they could use the helicopter either - 60/70/80 mph winds, snow and rain on the tops yesterday and today - those men will have had to walk every sodding inch up there in the pitch black to get him.
Can you tell I'm just a bit angry?
Hosta - at least you'll have less washing when you come back from your hols soon
Good result Dove. The turkey steam will help your cold too....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I'm sure no one is ignoring you. The forum's quite busy at times and it can be hard keeping up with everyone's activities!
I often open the forker's thread in a separate tab so that I can look back on that one to see what's been said and can then post accordingly. My memory isn't what it used to be...

Hello Gertie - I can see you - sorry you're feeling ignored Don't think you've upset anyone - you're far too nice to upset people - just sometimes some of us don't remember to respond to everyone individually - I'm afraid I'm one of the worst at that - I tend to talk to everyone at once a lot of the time and hope people feel included.
Have a sit on the sofa and a cuppa with me

I am very bad at forgetting what people have said - but I have remembered now to say welcome home Hosta - glad you had a nice time & pleased to hear you might soon be able to jump on a bar stool without swearing
Fairy - agree with your sentiments 100%. Feel exactly the same about the lifeboat chaps and chappesses when you get idiot sailors venturing out in unsuitable weather / with inadequate navigational skills / equipment etc.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Totally agree about lifeboat volunteers T'bird - we were talking about it at work today and I said it's the same with the RNLI. Does it never cross these people's minds (assuming they have one) that the fabulous people who come to their rescue are in serious danger too because of their stupidity? That clown on Nevis was climbing up one of the gullies - a monumental task even in good weather. Observatory Gully - have a google and you'll see what I mean. They should have cut his b****y rope. I decided recently to do a walk in 2017 for Mountain Rescue - it'll be a 'big birthday' year for me, and it seems fitting. I've been fortunate enough to never need them, and I'm eternally grateful that they're there should that situation arise.
Foul weather here now. I'm trying very hard not to finish the little box of Quality Street that youngest fairylet bought me when we stopped at the P. Office on the way home.

I really don't know what goes on in some people's heads Fairy. Do people actually wake up and think "Oooh - big storm today - terrible weather - dangerous conditions - I know - lets go climb a mountain" - I just cannot imagine how anybody could even try to justify putting other people's lives at risks for their own stupid pleasure.
The "Just Giving" website is good for collecting donations if you decide to do the walk next year. You can put me down as a sponsor for such an excellent cause
Weather has definitely turned since this morning - much colder & quite a bit of rain forecast over the weekend. Still haven't done my bulbs - don't think they'll get done before next week now
Any green triangles left in the box Fairy?

Miserable all day, so didn't feel guilty about curling up and reading all day.
I have won a competition on a share trading web site, which is how I try to supplement my pension. It is an iPad mini. Lovely to win something, although not sure I have much use for it.
Fairy, count me in. I have plenty of reasons to be very grateful to Mountain Rescue and have given them money in the past.
Just about time for a drink I think.
See you later.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
