Our son's birthday is 19th. it was always difficult to think if a gift that didnt seem like a C present.  We've solved C presents in recent years as they've got older, by offering money which is always happily accepted. Most grandkids like to have the chance to buy their own choices. Makes it easier for us in a small town where choice is limited.image

Ps. Lily, sorry you're no better with the sciatica. I remember those zappers too. Trouble was that you needed to use electricity for them. Also it got moths, spiders and lots of other insects which weren't the problem.  Have a great trip.

G,day ,Pat. I remember aussie flies well. I have two of those mesh nets that cover all of the head over a hat. They drove me mad at the Pinnacles on a trip in WA. Next trip I forgot it and bought another one. They now live in my suitcase so that I don't forget them. They're not flattering but they are effective. I also buy plenty of insect repellant in Oz. It seems to be more effective than the Deet based Jungle formula that we get here. I'm not sure that smuggling something akin to nerve gas into Britain is allowed.
