  • Thanks folks image  No phone calls overnight so hopefully that means Pa is stable.  I'll phone the ward later then set off to visit Ma, she'll be so anxious - she gets quite confused too so that'll not help things.

In a little while I'll reorganise things kitchen-wise - OH did lots of washing up and tidying away, but there's leftovers that could be packaged up to make better use of fridge space.   And in all the chaos no one had a mince pie or sausage roll!!!

Verdun, please pass my best wishes and thanks to your nephew and all his colleagues -  watching the professionalism and kindness of the paramedics who from time to time attend on Pa, a very frail but proud man, is always a humbling experience.

    Good Morning.

Dove so sorry to hear about your Pa. Hugs. Do hope that he's okay today and can re-join Ma. Not the Boxing Day you'd planned but hopefully things will be okay tomorrow. I think it's lovely that they are are still living together even though they have very differing needs.

Gardengirl hope you feeling better today.

Stacey bet you were so upset at power loss as I imagine you'd planned to cook all sorts to goodies.

Agree that we should be grateful for the people who work to keep us "going" over the hols.

We had a good day, don't know how it can have been hectic when there were only five of us. I was a tired little KEF last night.

Harsh frost this morning, wrapping up warm and walking to pubs in next village and then cold meat, chips & pickles on the menu.

    BFN.

Hope Pa is better today Dove - and well done to those looking after him.  Sorry your holiday has not been relaxing at all, but glad you had your family with you to help out.

We had a lovely, lovely day yesterday - lots of feasting and presents rounded off by cards and board games. Was laughing so hard at one point i couldn't speakimage.  Fun times imageimage

Off to my sisters for the big family get together today ( my turn to host next year) - more games, more feasting, and a long walk in the Sussex countryside.  I love Christmas image

Clearing up yesterdays mess and muddle - just looked out of the window to a beautiful sight. The birch tree twinkling with melting droplets of frost shimmering like jewels - nature is wonderful.

We had a good day yesterday with friends coming to lunch and 1 to stay the night. In fact we had 2 Christmases as we'd celebrated on Sunday with my children and grandchildren. But I did feel sorry for those poor people at Gatwick Airport and those in the floods in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

I was a nurse before I had my four children and I used to enjoy Christmas at the hospital (Westminster, the old one). We had a best decorated ward competition and the patients who were well enough used to join in. A lot of people were able to go home for Christmas so the wards weren't full, emergency only operations.

  • A few weeks ago I mentioned how I take some root cuttings of my Apple Mint, put them in a tray of compost in the greenhouse for a supply of 'out of season' Mint.

Just thought I would now add a pic to show how they are doing

     PS

I will not be around for a few weeks now as I have to go into hospital on Tues.(New Year's Eve) for a replacement knee.

    PS

The treatment I did in November of Nemasys vine weevil nematodes has really worked well in spite of me treating the soil after the temperatures had dropped too low & Nematode breeding season over. Not a single seedling failure since the treatment so the soil warming cable has done its job. image

Here's wishing everyone a happy and successful new year. John H

Hope your Pa is feeling brighter today Dove. What a worry on Christmas Day.

Good luck with your knee John. Everyone I know who's had a new knee says it's wonderful. No more arthritis.
