No cake here - no gardening either. Only good thing about a rainy weekend is that i got to the bottom of my ironing pile for the first time since June. OH has decided he needs to set an early alarm for tomorrow - its the first time for so long that he has a choice of work shirts he is worried he will be overwhelmed
I'll have to read back, I got to where Fidgetbones asked what Butternut I grow. I thinbk it was Harrier from T & M, they were small, but I think I prefer my last year's ones which where a bit bigger, Cobnut from Suttons. They usually ripen well here as we often have warm weather into September and October. But today has been cold and wet. Anyway they are all harvested now.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning Brumbull and any/everyone else up at this time in the morning
Where's Chicky? She's usually about early.
Back to work today but as I've got some more odd days' leave to take I think this is the last full week I've got to work - ever!!! Sorry, don't want to rub it in
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning Dove and Brum. Pitch black, so can't even give a weather report. Countdown really on now Dove! When is the great Russian adventure??
I have a bday coming up soon (shhh, its a secret) and Dad has said he will take me to a Garden Centre and let me choose !! So I must start thinking which section I want to head for. I like plants that come in to my garden like that - good associations.
Anyway - time to scrub up and face the world. Onwards and upwards .....
The great Russian Adventure isn't until next May - ish. Nothing firmed up yet, and I need to renew my passport and get a visa. I was torn between going in the late summer and seeing their wonderful tomatoes peppers, cucumbers, melons etc in their gardens, or going in the spring and seeing the plains full of wild flowers. As I don't really enjoy the heat, daughterinlaw said I'd be more comfortable going in May, so that's the plan.
Oooh, Birthday Plant any ideas what you're aiming for?

No ideas yet on Bday plant - but will have fun this week doing some mental shopping !
Never been to Russia myself - so will be interested to hear. Would love to go to Moscow and StP, but never really considered the rest. Studying Russian history was always my favourite - all those Tsar's and revolutions. Chicklet has just started herself, and I have been digging out all my "must read" books on the subject (she is delighted - not)

I've not watched it yet either lol, I don't like her much either!!!
You be as bold as you like Woody!
I'm off to bed. Night all
Here's to tomorrow.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Oh Chicky I can sooo relate to that ironing basket - but I'm afraid I shut the door on
mine - it was a case of "what the eye don't see, the heart won't grieve about"!
Tomorrow I'll have to face it, but until then ............
Nite, Nite to all.
