Tracey, one of those camellias jumped into my trolley at Lidl the other day too!

The label showed a white candy-striped one with red stripes, but two large buds have now opened and they are red!image I don't really mind, but the striped one would have been special.

The brugmanwhatsit used to be called datura or angels trumpet, you can get high by chewing the seeds!image They are very impressive though.

Today is the first time i have spent a bit of time in my garden & greenhouses as i got my bare root plants today from Hayloft Plants. Must say very happy with them got 15 Alstroemeria 10 Phlox so all in pots & tubs in the greenhouse. Also planted 2 Polyantha roses (pink) 15 Ranunculus mixed and 4 white Lilies all in the greenhouse. Got two 8ft two tiers aluminium staging from the The Greenhouse People today so weather being good that's my job this weekend plus sowing more seeds.

Thank you MrsG, we are such very close friends. She is very special to me, and considering what she has been through these last few months, she's staying quite strong.

    Hiya

Been in garden most of day - went  swimming first - disaster though -wanted to re-pot my blueberry bushes only to find that one, despite showing  some growth and shoots had no roots, when rinsed under tap (water butt) out popped the dreaded vine weevil grubs. The others look fine but will give them a dose of whatever it is that kills them - Is it Provado?

Then carried on the never ending weeding with the germinating acorns every where - grrr

    Love that 'envy' thread,

Ordered  Cercis Forest Pansy from Hayloft a GW offer - never used them before- are they OK

17 Verd - didn't even get near 7 here today! image

Had chat with teacher. Stood my ground. They can dress it up how they like, but I know what goes on and, as we say here, it's a heap of ****e.  She'll sit it providing she passes the Nab (next part of the course) in the next few weeks.  What message does it send kids that if they're not doing brilliantly they can just drop out of the subject? Whatever happened to sticking at something and trying to improve. image

Anyway, sorted my indoor plants with some fresh compost so they look a bit happier. Crocus are all opening in the garden so it looks a bit more springlike. The canna I bought at the end of last summer for a few quid is growing away so I will get that into a bigger pot at the weekend.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Fairy I can remember a witch of a Geography teacher at school when I was 13.  Tell you another time / place/ if you want to know. She made my life hell after Dad "chatted" at parent's night. Got my own back in 6th form when I was 18 and she was a 6th form tutor. If she's a gardener hope she get vine weevil.

    Hi everyone image

Tracey just out of interest, I assume you know about Camellias liking acid soil and not being in a place where they get sun first thing in the morning.  image

I've declared it Spring I sat outside with my bare toes in the sun ( briefly) image

Time for food & tele & GW later. Have a good night all.

Evening all. Glorious sunny day today. Managed to plant out the Snowdrops and Gladioli.

Swiss Sue - I love Camellias. The red one still sounds nice, shame it was mislabelled. The striped one sounded really nice. I must admit to being tempted by a white version with pink edges - think it was called Margaret Davis.

  • Evening all.... Omg what a fantastic day! Me and lo went to a farm today to take a look at their point of lay chickens.... She got carried away as they had pigs, goats, ducks and turkeys.... When I managed to drag her away we grabbed a sandwich and headed for home to go to the park but on the way I spotted a park and omg what a fab place!!! Its called pirate park and is amazing so she ran around for 3 hours in the sand playing on the pirate ships shooting down zip lines climbing and sliding. Was an amazing afternoon and I didn't have the heart to drag her away toget her hair cut. It was 16.5• when I looked and I now have a sun kissed face. I have wine in hand and am looking forward to GW!!!! So later peeps
