Phewwww, cleaned and sorted shed. Now have lots of room again. Weeded, trimmed and sorted pots. Hacked back something or another growing in from the field at the back. Time for a cuppa and sit down, ache a bit now.
Miserable freezing day here Where is the Indian Summer I am hopeful for? And that Verdun promised? It might have well have rained today
Wonky, hope you are recovering from you work shock. Kinda looking forward to it myself when it comes Bet I'll be changing my tune in a couple of months
I've not been around for a few days cos I realised I was spending too much time on here...
Yvie, thinking of you and yours. Hope your OH's operation goes smoothly and is successful. And is your sight less blurry? Hope you find a solution for your mum, too; can't remember who on here suggested finding a different hospital, but it could be something to look into perhaps?
It's cold, damp and misty today, in spite of the forecast. I've been catching up with big cleaning jobs including yukky bird feeders, instead of doing the weeding, potting up and cutting back which I'd anticipated. Ah well - at least I'll be fired up and ready to go when (if? ) we have some better weather.
I really ought to go. Bye for now!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hi Jo - I'm ok thanks. Nothing to complain about, just feel a bit flat at the moment... I guess it's a common problem for the newly retired; you are overjoyed at all the time you'll have to do the things you've been saving up for years, and then sometimes you just feel as if you've lost your way a bit. I think I need a project to get my teeth into, for days like today when I can't do what I've planned in the garden. Maybe I'll get the sewing machine out.
I get your point about unforseen problems arriving with the rehomed fluffy ones. Our rescued cats have/had various health problems, and one of the sisters turned out to have leukaemia, so we lost her last autumn. But she had a happy few years with us. Hope Flatters responds to treatment, Wonky, and doesn't break the bank...

Took hubby in for his op and the surgeon said it went well, have to take him back tomorrow at 8.00 a.m. for a check up. While I was there I went in to A & E and had them check my eye. I had to wait 5 hours to see the Doctor. He says the infection is still in my eye lid and causing it to press on the cornea which is why I see double in that eye, so more eye cream and bathing with hot water.
Mum finally agreed to go back into hospital after a good talking to from her GP. Don't know what the verdict is yet as haven't been able to go and see her today.
Today I used an entire pot of boot polish cleaning horse tack for the museums new display. Wasn't what I was expecting when I went to work this morning...
Sat down on the computer to find (while waddling through the first day at school photographs and general nonsense that normally fills the internet) my friends car has been stolen. Worse: he had all of his first responder medical kit in the car which means he is no longer going to be able attend medical incidents in those vital minutes before an ambulance can attend. It makes me very very.... beyond angry.
Yesterday I cried myself to sleep because a "friend" was careless with his wording and made it sound that he couldn't be bothered to eat meal out of his comfort zone for the sake of celebrating my birthday / engagement / new house / a general big party to make up for all those other big parties that I haven't had to have because my friends were too busy to come over. (Allergies making it very difficult for me to find a restaurant that wont try to kill me or at least make me feel very ill for several days so to find one, one that serves damn fine food is rather exciting so for him to call the food "inedible" because he didn't like any of it....).
Today I feel sad because I know my friend is sat at home and only a few streets away someone could be dying because he can't get there. Can't use the equipment he always carries.

Sitting here quietly vibrating as the builders dig out the garage floor...
The house was shaking, last time I felt it like that was in Singapore during an earthquake!

Has anyone ever painted their tiles? I'm fancying changing the colour of the ones in my bathroom - dull brown, to cream. Is it easy??
