Chicky, love the Buddleia. Does it have a cultivar name? There's one in my Phillips and Rix book called 'Black Knight', but is more twisty (sort of) like a spiral, but a lovely deep colour. I've got a couple, but they are just the ordinary mauve colour. Still, the butterflies don't complain.
You and Supernoodle must have children at similar school stages. I bet you're glad the holidays are over and you can get into routine again. Even though my youngest is now 41, I can still remember that feeling. Hope it all settles down into a routine for you both.
Ah, I've read about Sugar Plum, it is a very similar colour to Miss Ruby but Miss R is slightly more pink whereas Sugar Plum is a bit redder. SP was bred at Longstock whereas Miss R is from the USA. The colour is fantastic - it's outside my sitting room window and I can see the flowers from here - it attracts lots of bees and butterflies.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Phew, glad the week-end is over, just an airport run and dinner for four to cope with today, easy day.
Birhday party went well, according to the 19 children anyway, the garden and my blood pressure will take a bit longer to get over it. Charlie had only one minor meltdown in the middle of it when the kids found the treasure before he had time to read out the clues in the Treasure Hunt.
Went on a charity walk yesterday which included a visit to a Champion's kennel of Basset Hounds and Bernese Mountain dogs and an American style ranch where they manage the cattle with horses. Saw the most beautiful and well cared for animals and in the kennels the gardens were absolutely gorgeous, beautiful roses with the most glorious fragrances, lavender and salvias and loads of multi headed sunflowers.
Half way around the walk, in the middle of the forest the organiser had set up a stall with cakes, crepes, fruit tarts and apple juice, not quite sure how they got it all up there, a very welcome treat. I like these kind of walks, might have to do one again.
Hope the weather stays good for you all and Chicklet enjoys college.
Catch you later.

Supernoodle, does that puller thingy only work on lawns or on beds too?

Hi Steve and DD. Lovely photos and story about the visit. It sounds like a special way to spend the day. Lucky you,
I got enthusiastic today and planted lots of seeds into the propagator. I might be jumping the gun, weather wise, but we'll see.
Morning all, evening Pat, and happy birthday Verdun!
Weed puller sounds great Snoodle but I'm not sure I'd have any lawn left with the amount of weeds in mine!
