Thanks for the coffee Jo! Went down a treat! did the trick too as Moroccan lamb in slow cooker now and cracking on with rest of today's jobs
Afternoon SGL, hope your having a nice weekend
I'm really behind on the garden Fairy! I never get any time and the weather has been terrible...wet and cold....need to cut back some leaf on everything to let in light to try and tempt remaining shy flower buds!
Thanks. I'm off to bed now, but will follow up tomorrow. fathers Day for us tomorrow. So I'd better be on my toes early to wait on him hand and foot. 11pm.
... until I take up my rightful role as dictator in chief ..
Take your place behind me in the queue Pdoc
Hosta! You met Pavarotti!!!!
I saw Princess Diana - I was really quite close - she was sooooooo thin.
I also met Desert Orchid - he licked me and dribbled snot on my hand
Pat, for many roles I prefer Domingo's voice, but Pavarotti singing Italian opera and bel canto is just heaven.
Ma was fine - the staff were helping her with some knitting - she used to knit all the time but stopped about ten years ago, saying her hands hurt, but I think it was because she got into muddles. Today she needed telling what to do for every stitch, but she was enjoying the help and attention. Several residents were knitting squares for a blanket, so while Ma and I chatted I did some rows for her. She was very chuffed that her square was growing faster than the others
She was very muddled about who I am, who her children are, where her mother and Pa are - apparently neither of them are as mobile as they used to be
She's thinking of employing someone, a nice man, to look after her children ........... he's coming for an interview next week. I said that if he didn't turn up that would prove he was unreliable so she'd better not employ him - she agreed that was a good idea.
Lesley, lunch by the sea was wonderful.
The Irish Stew in the slow cooker is smelling wonderful.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove, I'm in that queue with you & Punkdoc too - and I'm full of admiration for your son. Nuff said.
Wow Jo - not surprised you were stunned into silence! My OH has met the Queen, and Prince Andrew on a separate occasion (because he used to conduct a youth choir which was asked to sing at prestigious events), and reckons it was really surreal - he was left thinking "did that really happen?" However, I must say I would rate being dribbled on by Desert Orchid pretty highly...
Glad your Ma was ok Dove. I wonder if I could get my Mum knitting again? I often bring my knitting with me when I visit her, and she usually says she's got a cardigan on the go, or something similar, but of course it's years since she could manage to knit or sew without making mistakes. (I treasure a jacket which she invisibly mended for me when she was 83, taking a piece from inside the pocket to patch a hole, and matching the pattern exactly. I look at it from time to time to remind me what a remarkable person she was - and still is, inside.)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Well if we are doing Royalty we have met: I took Prince Charles and Lady Di round the ICU in Nottingham, after the M1 air crash. Lady Di was seriously gorgeous.
I have also had tea with Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street. I expect some of you may not regard that as an honour, but I did.
Glad to hear your Mum is ok Dove.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
