  • Morning all.

Its not cold here but very overcast for this time of year.

Do hope your right Dove and we get a bit of summer back. Haven't really had one this year.  September usually has good weather.

Hope Fairy and Lizzie have a lovely hols. Hope you get some sunshine.

    Hope ma is well Dove.

We've been to Carcassone (spelling) beautiful place, lovely old castle. Happy memories.

I've never had a tumble dryer, don't think it can do fabrics much good, but every winter do think about getting one lol. Might actually succumb this year.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

WW - I haven't done much gardening either - other than cut the grass. My garden is quite easy to maintain now, which is just as well as I'm working more hours just now while we're at our busiest. Deadheading is probably the main job and I love just going round removing spent flowers...I really do need a holiday don't I?  image Not good at those either... image

I think I may cut the grass soon as it will be dry enough. The front grass isn't growing too rapidly now - colder weather. It's hardly grown since last Saturday's cut.

Hope everyone who's been unwell is a bit better this weekend. Yvie's had a terrible time image  Are you feeling a bit better too RB?

Feel I should be doing something - I can't be that well organised can I? image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Morning all. Freezing outside this morning, but the sun is shining.

I am hoping to find something gentle I can do in the garden, as I am going stir crazy having not done anything this week. It does not take long for nature to re assert itself.

Have lovely holidays BL and Fairy. I am going to book some winter sun this weekend. Without it I do become a truly miserable s#d, well that's my excuse anyway.

Re: migrant crisis. IMO we should probably avoid discussing this. My view of what Verdun said is unprintable, but clearly he has a right to his views [ until I take up my rightful role as dictator in chief ] and I have no desire to fall out with him, or any of the other lovely people on here, who have done so much to at least partially restore my sanity over the last few years.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Morning all.

    Another hideous "sleep" last night.

Grey and miserable out, which does nothing to lift the spirits.

I met Pavarotti once , long , long time ago and I was at the concert in Hyde Park in 1991 ( when everyone got soaked except me who'd brought waterproofs )

I was there at 6.45 am , right in the middle on the front row , well, behind the barriers and the vip seas.

He came on and did an hour's rehearsal mid afternoon which was an added treat.

I think it's tunnel duties for me to-day, it's just too miserable. Maybe it'll clear up later.

Have a lovely weekend one and all.

    Your evening sounded lovely chickyimage.

Wish I'd popped in earlier for a coffee Jo.  I've made myself three so far that have all been left to go coldimage.  Wonky it's a good idea to get ahead with the week's meals.  Great not to have to think about it after a hard day's workimage.

Have a good visit with Ma Dove and enjoy your view of the sea afterimage

Not too much deadheading to do here apart from the cosmos as the very first dahlia flower has only just opened AND it's got it's back to me.  It's not as if it's my fault the weather hasn't suited itimage

Hosta I think a siesta should be on the cards for you todayimage

Enjoy a little potter in the garden Pdoc but don't overdo it.  Where are you thinking of going this time?

I wouldn't like to be without my tumble dryer.  Not only does it get things dry it really cuts down on ironing.  I hate ironing.

Rb I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.  Treat yourself to something nice at the big shops and I hope you find the perfect dress for your Gdimage.

  • Sorry  Chicky, missed you earlier.  Love Covent Garden. Sounds like a lovely evening, all the better as it was unexpected. Glad you all had a lovely time.

RB, enjoy shopping for GD, there are some pretty dresses in the shops at the mo image

Wanted to cut the grass today but its drizzly out there now.

Hosta, was that the year Princess Di went and got soaked?

Lily,  that was the concert I was at. I saw her arrive, the only time I saw her "live"

It was chucking it down and they stopped the concert and a guy came on and said

" for the convenience of those who can not see, and for your won personal inconvenience, can we ask that all umbrellas are put down."

    I was ok , I had a hood.

Hello again everyone. I've been doing other things tonight and am just catching up.

Dove, hope your visit to Ma went well. I'm glad others liked Pavarotti as well. I also like Placido.  Actually, my very, very favourite voices are the deep male ones. There is an aria by the priest in one of Mozarts operas and I just about melt whenever I hear it. I envy you Hosta for meeting Pavarotti and seeing Princess Di in real life.  I've got a DVD of the three tenors in concert which I often enjoy.

re tumble driers. I'd not like to be without mine.  I mostly get things as dry as possible on the line and then finish off in the drier if they aren't properly dry.  I particularly like to finish off the bathroom towels - makes them lovely and soft. And, Lesley, I never iron unless I'm dressmaking. One of the advantages of being retired to a property.

i don't envy you all coming into autumn. I've had enough of cold this year. Star g l, I'd be happy to share some of our sun with you. My fruit trees are beginning to flower ( let's hope we don't get a late frost).  I sent a couple of photos to Marion on her Bristol garden site tonight.

supernoodle - you made me laugh about turning into your parents - didn't you realise that we all do that?  Shock, horror!

Lets see, who have I forgotten?  Chicky -sorry- your visit and meal sounded great.  And Wonky, how keen to cook the weeks meals, but smart.  Sorry if I've missed anyone.image
